Week 4 Injury Scares

Week 4 Injury Scares Two of fantasy football’s hottest players thus far in 2008 were injured in Week 4. Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin was sandwiched between two Jets defenders in the end zone and it appeared that his neck snapped. He was carted off the field and taken to a local hospital. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers suffered a right shoulder injury and was barely able to finish Green Bay’s loss against Tampa.

Currently, all we know is that Boldin, who had 10 catches for 119 yards and a TD leading up to his injury, reportedly had movement in all of his extremities and was talking at the hospital following the game, which is great news.

We’d be absolutely shocked if he played next week against Buffalo, and his owners should be happy if he returns prior to the team’s Week 7 bye. Boldin is a gamer though, so if anyone would comeback that quickly from a scare, Boldin would.

Boldin owners may want to take a look at adding Steve Breaston to their fantasy rosters. The second year return specialist from the University of Michigan has emerged as Arizona’s clear cut third WR, and he hauled in nine catches for 122 yards in Week 4.

Because of Breaston’s solid play, the Cards could be just fine without Boldin, however, the Packers would not be “just fine” if they lose Rodgers for any amount of time.

Rodgers threw for 165 yards, two scores and three interceptions in Week 4, but left the game for a drive in the fourth quarter. He returned to finish the game, but it is unclear if he has a separated shoulder, or just a sprain.

We’ll update you on Rodgers’ situation. If he plays next week against Atlanta, he has a wonderful match-up and all should be great for Greg Jennings, Donald Driver and Jordy Nelson. However, if Rodgers misses time, Matt Flynn would likely take over as the team’s starter and that could spell trouble for the entire Packers offense.
