Brett Favre To Be Traded To Jets?

favre-nfl.jpg By now you’ve read plenty regarding former Packers QB Brett Favre and his potential return to the National Football League. SI’s Peter King recently reported that Favre’s agent Bus Cook could  write a letter to Green Bay asking that Favre be removed from the reserved/retired list. It’s what would follow that remains a mystery.

Green Bay would have to make a decision to either activate him, trade him or release him. The two ladder of which would allow him the opportunity to play for another NFL team. Many other outlets have rumored that the Carolina Panthers are interested in acquiring Favre. For the record, we believe that the Packers would be silly not to simply let their Hall-Of-Fame signal caller resume his duties. Sorry, Aaron Rodgers - we like you - but if Favre wants to return, let him. However, our sources believe that there is a potential trade out there that would make sense, should Green Bay elect to stick with Rodgers as their starter. Get ready for it - Favre to the Jets, straight up for Chad Pennington.

Our sources believe that this trade makes sense for both teams, as Pennington would be an experienced back-up behind Rodgers, in a much-needed change of scenery, while Favre could lead the Jets, who are built to “win now.”

Now, this would obviously entail Favre learning a brand new offense, that of OC Brian Schottenheimer and new offensive line coach Bill Callahan. Stay tuned for what could be a very interesting next few weeks leading up to the start of NFL training camps.

Javon Walker Won’t Miss Opener - Our sources extremely close to Oakland Raiders WR Javon Walker tell us that he will undoubtedly be recovered and ready to take the field during the team’s season opener against his former team, the Broncos, on Monday, September 8. Now, we should clarify that our sources were referring to the most recent injuries suffered in his attack after attending a Las Vegas nightclub in June. Our sources had no update regarding his knee that has bothered him since last season. While this is encouraging news for his owners, we’re still not convinced he’s in the best situation to make a consistent fantasy impact in 2008.

Saints Happy With RB Situation - Recent reports coming out of New Orleans are that 29 year old RB Deuce McAllister, who is recovering from two knee surgeries in the past 10 months, is extremely happy with his recovery up until this point. He recently told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he’s “proud” of himself and ready to “make plays.” Our sources tell us that New Orleans is extremely happy with their RB situation heading into the season, and has no intentions of adding any of the available free agent rushers. This gives us the confidence to advise fantasy owners to invest in Deuce as a late round sleeper in seasonal formats. It could pay off huge.

Duckett To Be Released? - We’ve covered this since April, when Mike Holmgren first hinted at a split carry situation in Seattle. Recently, he told media that he’d wait until late in training camp to name his starting tailback. Our sources tell us that his recent comments regarding the running back position had less to do with Julius Jones and Maurice Morris and more to do with T.J. Duckett. We’re being told that Duckett could be released prior to the end of training camp, and that Jones is head and shoulders the favorite to start above Morris.
