Philip Rivers Knee Ready For 2008 Many fantasy football owners have asked us about Philip Rivers’ status this off-season. The concern is that Rivers underwent reconstructive knee surgery this off-season after basically losing his entire ACL via playing through a serious injury in the AFC Championship game against New England.

Our sources tell us that Rivers’ knee will be fully ready for him to participate in 2008. It remains to be seen exactly how healthy he’ll be, but our sources believe he’ll be very effective, as his strength is as a pocket passer anyway. He’s never had much mobility, and he has solid pass protection around him, along with four solid weapons in LaDainian Tomlinson, Antonio Gates, Vincent Jackson and Chris Chambers. We’re calling Rivers a top tier QB2 and competitive QB1 in deep leagues in 2008.

Chad Henne To Start For Miami - While it remains unknown who exactly will start in Week 1 at QB for the Miami Dolphins, our sources strongly believe that second round draft choice Chad Henne will become the team’s clear cut starter, beating out Josh McCown and John Beck by mid season. Henne’s experience as a four year starter and U-M should help him step in and earn a starting job as a rookie in the NFL. However, it remains to be seen how effective he’ll be. The starting signal caller for the ‘Phins has zero value for dynasty owners in 2008, but could be worth watching in deep dynasty formats as the offense gels over the years.

Tashard Choice Is Special - Fantasy owners are well aware of Dallas RBs Marion Barber and Felix Jones, but a name they need to familiarize themselves with more is Tashard Choice. Our sources believe that Choice is an extremely special player, who will play a role of some sort as a rookie. Now, he’s not draftable in seasonal formats, due to the fact that he won’t see many carries at all. However, in dynasty formats, Choice is someone to watch closely and snag in the later rounds of rookie-only drafts. Choice is a physical runner, and can make plays out of the backfield - much like Buffalo’s Marshawn Lynch. Choice will step in and put up huge numbers if there should ever be an injury that sidelines Barber for a long period of time. Consider yourself warned - the fourth round pick out of Georgia Tech could have fantasy value at some point in his NFL career.

Packers Confident In Rodgers - Despite the fact that it’s starting to look like Brett Favre could return to the Green Bay Packers for the 2008 season, our sources tell us that Packers players are extremely confident in Aaron Rodgers as their leader. We’re not saying that if Favre comes back to Green Bay, that he’ll be a back-up to Rodgers, however, if Favre returns to play somewhere else in 2008, we have the utmost confidence that Rodgers will step in and do a solid job leading the team to success this season.
