Coming off a broken ankle, it may seem hard to believe, but our sources are adamant that fourth year man Roydell Williams will be a main contributor for the Tennessee Titans in 2008. The 6′0″, 187 pounder from Tulane caught a respectable 55 balls for 719 yards and four TDs in his third season - his first fully healthy one as a pro.
Plenty of other receivers are in the mix for playing time - like Justin Gage, Justin McCareins, Paul Williams and even Mike Williams - who has lost 30 pounds and looks good in practice - but Roydell is the one who our sources say Jeff Fisher and OC Mike Heimerdinger see as their next Derrick Mason. Interestingly, rookie Lavelle Hawkins hasn’t done much to separate himself from the pack thus far.
Flacco Learning Quickly -Our sources tell us that rookie QB Joe Flacco has all the physical tools to start at some point during his rookie season, but needs to master the mental aspect of the NFL game prior to being thrown into the fire. In recent comments to AP reporters, veteran WR Derrick Mason seems extremely confident in Flacco’s ability, and his presence in the huddle. We believe Flacco is a phenomenal dynasty prospect, because when things start clicking, he’ll unleash his cannon for the word to see. New OC Cam Cameron likes the spread offense, so in 2009 or 2010, we could be talking about Flacco being one of the top sleeper signal callers.
Chris Long Is The Real Deal -Our sources close to St. Louis tell us that rookie Chris Long will be a legit IDP sleeper in 2008, especially in leagues that require starters at defensive line. The rookie apparently looks phenomenal in mini-camp workouts, and is obviously a physical specimen. The difference between he and other top athletes is that Long’s passion for going 100 percent on every play, and his knowledge of the game are incredible intangible factors that should set him apart for years to come.
