Calvin & Roy To Enjoy 2008Detroit Lions flankers Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams both watched a man referred to as an “offensive genius” and a “passing guru” walk out the door and head west this off-season, find out why our sources think they’ll be better off without him.

Calvin & Roy To See More Work With Colletto - At first glance, Jim Colletto taking over as Detroit Lions offensive coordinator may seem like horrible news for the 6′5″ Johnson and the 6′3″ Williams. After all, Colletto is a former offensive line coach, who has always been extremely conservative, and likes to pound the rock and control the clock. Our sources tell us, however, that the switch to Colletto from former OC Mike Martz will be great for both players’ reception totals, for one simple reason. Colletto’s run game will draw defenders into the box, allowing more one-on-one coverage for Johnson and Williams downfield. Also, Martz used Mike Furrey and Shaun McDonald a TON the past two seasons, and they won’t be on the field much in 2008, meaning more possession opportunities for Roy Boy and Calvin.

Heap Studying Gates - Our sources tell us that as soon as Cam Cameron was announced as the new offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, 28 year old TE Todd Heap went to work studying old game film of Antonio Gates. Cameron used Gates to perfection during his time in San Diego as OC, a period in which the Chargers’ offense virtually mirrored that of Baltimore’s today. Expect Heap to be a big part of what Cameron does in 2008, as he’ll utilize his versatile route running ability, great hands and athleticism. If Heap stays healthy, he has top five fantasy TE written all over him.

Packers High On Jordy Nelson - Despite the fact that they already had Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones and Koren Robinson at the time, the Packers elected to use their first pick in the 2008 NFL Draft to select 6′3″ WR Jordy Nelson out of Kansas State. Since then, they’ve cut Robinson and haven’t regretted the move. Our sources tell us that Nelson has been extremely impressive this off-season, drawing comparisons to Larry Fitzgerald from some close to the Packers organization. We’re not sure about his seasonal value, but monitor him closely, and consider him a phenomenal dynasty prospect who shouldn’t last longer than the mid-second round of rookie-only drafts.

Chicago Has “No Interest” In Kevin Jones - Our sources out of Chicago have been telling us all week that despite the agent for RB Kevin Jones approaching the team, the Bears have absolutely no interest in the 25 year old free agent. In fact, our sources went on to say that the Bears would probably have more interest in Oakland’s LaMont Jordan, should he be released, which may explain why Jones, Travis Henry, Shaun Alexander, Ron Dayne and Cedric Benson all haven’t found homes yet.

Pennington Done In New York - Despite the appearance that the Jets are going to give Chad Pennington one last chance to win the starting QB gig, our sources in New York tell us that Pennington has looked absolutely putrid in off-season workouts, and has no chance to beat out Kellen Clemens. Even though Clemens might not be the answer, it appears the Jets want him to be. Count Pennington out of fantasy circles, and monitor Clemens, as he could blossom into a decent NFL starter if given the full opportunity.
