Our sources tell us that Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is extremely remorseful for his behavior during Kansas City’s bye a few weeks ago. He recently turned himself in and was formally charged by the police for simple assault, then released on $500 bond.
Fantasy owners had reason to believe Johnson would have a solid season, after he had garnered 415 yards and three TDs in his first four games, but things have gone drastically downhill from there. However, brace yourselves, because the Johnson rollercoaster ride isn’t yet over, and now that the downs are almost over, our sources believe there actually could be some ups. First of all, the Chiefs offense is starting to play respectably, as Tyler Thigpen threw for 280 yards and two scores. The Chiefs first round pick LT Branden Albert is back healthy and playing well, and neither Kolby Smith nor Jamaal Charles have made an impact at all on the ground the last two weeks, showing Johnson’s value to the team.
More importantly, we’re hearing that Johnson really wants to turn things around, and after his league suspension is over, he’ll be a whole new man. Dynasty owners may want to seriously consider buying low, as there will be a chip on the soon-to-be 29 year old’s shoulder.
Lastly, we’re starting to hear whispers that LJ could be traded this off-season, potentially to the Patriots, who still don’t have a clear cut starting running back. Remember, the Patriots breathed life into the career of Corey Dillon at a similar juncture, and of course, WR Randy Moss has been re-born in Foxborough.
Colston Didn’t Get Separation - Seasonal and dynasty owners of Marques Colston were definitely frustrated following his two catch, 56 yard performance in Week 8 against the Chargers. Teammates Lance Moore and Devery Henderson were heavily involved and barely ever came off the field, while Colston only played about 60% of the team’s snaps. Our sources tell us that Sean Payton really wanted to ease him back into the rotation, but to expect the Saints 25 year old stud to play his first complete game of the season in Week 10 against the Falcons. He’s expected to finally get into game shape this week, and start to create some separation that wasn’t there against San Diego. Neither Atlanta, nor the Saints’ Week 11 opponent - the Chiefs - have anyone who can cover all of the Saints weapons. Fantasy owners need to continue to have patience with Colston, and it will pay off - we promise.
McNabb Calls Avant “The Best Slot Receiver” - Eagles QB Donovan McNabb recently told our sources that he believes teammate Jason Avant is the best slot receiver he’s ever played with. This is an interesting comment, considering he only has 13 catches for 146 yards for the entire season. The 25 year old is the team’s sixth leading receiver. Don’t expect him to be a fantasy option any time soon, especially with DeSean Jackson, Kevin Curtis and Brian Westbrook in full swing. Also, Reggie Brown will be back soon to play a possession type role in the Eagles offense.
