Roy Williams To Remain In Detroit…

roy-williams.jpgRumors have been swirling regarding Lions fifth year WR Roy Williams and his impending free agency. Will the Lions trade him before he potentially bolts during March, 2009? Our sources are adamant that Roy Boy will remain in the Honolulu Blue and Silver throughout the entire 2008 season. Unfortunately, that doesn’t guarantee a solid fantasy season for him, as Detroit transition’s to more of a “run-first” offensive coordinator in Jim Colletto. Williams has also had trouble staying healthy, finishing out only one entire season out of his first four years.

Rosenfels Could Stay In Houston - Our sources tell us that despite the signing of Quinn Gray, the Texans still highly value Sage Rosenfels. The back-up was invaluable after Matt Schaub went down with multiple injuries last year. He kept Houston competitive, and while Gray played well, he’s still only been a career third stringer. Our sources are also quick to point out though, that if an offer as high as a second round pick came in for Rosenfels, Houston is in a position where they would likely make the move.

Josh Johnson To Play WR At Next Level - San Diego QB Josh Johnson struck our sources as a potential NFL prospect at wide receiver, after blazing a 4.4 forty at the NFL Scouting Combine. Johnson is 6′3″, 213 lbs., and has phenomenal athletic ability. If he’s selected as a QB, he’s likely to go as late as the sixth round, but if a team that only carries two QBs on their roster, like New England, the New York Jets or the Dallas Cowboys want to make him a WR, he could fly off the board as early as round three.

Bears Want Brohm -The Chicago Bears own the 44th overall (13th pick in the second round) selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, and our sources are convinced that they’ll be adding Louisville QB Brian Brohm at that spot. We’ve also heard whispers about Rutgers RB Ray Rice, but the need Chicago has at QB far outweighs anything at any other position.

Stanton To Beat Out Kitna - There’s no doubt that the Lions are one of the worst run organizations in all of professional sports - from a team management standpoint, that is. One move they might actually get right though is to potentially bench Jon Kitna towards the end of the 2008 season for Drew Stanton. Now, if things go well with Kitna, there will be no reason to do it, but our sources tell us that if things go they way they have for Detroit the last several years, the 2007 second round draft pick will be starting by the end of the season. He spent all of last year on injured reserve, but is recovering well from a knee injury, and we love his athleticism.

Titans Looking For An MLB - One strong possibility, according to our sources, is for Tennessee to select Penn State MLB Dan Connor in the first round. He’s a smart player who would mesh well with Jeff Fisher and the Titans certainly need an upgrade at middle linebacker. We’ve mentioned before that scouts love his recall ability, and that he’ll definitely be taken towards the end of the first round. The only reason we see that they wouldn’t take Connor is that there’s a bigger need at WR. If you’re looking for an IDP sleeper in 2008 though, keep an eye on the Titans’ linebacker situation.
