Jeremy Shockey Wants To Be Traded…

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio told Sirius NFL Radio this morning that he believes Giants TE Jeremy Shockey’s actions blatantly suggest that he wants to be traded and is trying to force his way out of New York.

Shockey has recently criticized middle management, and refused to practice at mandatory mini-camp last week. Surprise, surprise, Shockey’s agent is Drew Rosenhaus. Paolantonio went on to say that he believes there is regret shared by both the Giants and Shockey with regards to not being dealt to the Saints in April, for a reported second (2008) and fifth (2009) round draft choice, and that his value is much lower now than it was in April, due to the fact that the Giants may “have to trade Shockey.”

Paolantonio covered the Giants mini-camp last week for ESPN, and also chimed in about the Plaxico Burress contract situation, saying he thinks Plax made a tactical error by kicking and screaming at practice last week about not having a deal done yet, when Jerry Reese is negotiating in good faith with Rosenhaus.

We see this all working out by training camp. Plax will have a deal done and be a solid fantasy WR2. Shockey will stay with the Giants and regain his spot as a solid fantasy TE1 in 2008.
