Fantasy Football Week 1 - RB Questions As fantasy owners get ready for Week 1, there are several question marks surrounding the running back position. Tampa has rotated RBs all pre-season, as has Houston - what will happen in each of those situations? Which rookie RB will fare best in Week 1? And, who will boom and bust?

Fantasy owners want to know…

Question - Who should fantasy owners look out for in PPR leagues?

Answer - One game in particular, Tampa Bay at New Orleans, features two of the league’s best pass catchers out of the backfield - Earnest Graham, who didn’t play much in the pre-season but is ready to go in Week 1, and Reggie Bush, who needs a boost of confidence after finishing 2007 on a low note. Expect each of these backs to get involved in the passing game early and stay involved throughout the entire game. They’re extremely good plays in PPR leagues this week, but avoidable in leagues that don’t award points for catches. Rookies Darren McFadden and Chris Johnson also fall into this category.

Question - Who will boom?

Answer - Captain obvious says Frank Gore and Brian Westbrook have huge games, but guys like Marshawn Lynch, Jonathan Stewart, Marion Barber, Felix Jones, DeAngelo Williams, Clinton Portis and Brandon Jacobs are all ready to have great days as well.

Question - Who will bust?

Answer - Avoid Willis McGahee. Even if he starts, he’ll struggle to finish the whole game after undergoing knee surgery this off-season. Don’t get too high on Chris Perry against the Ravens, Ryan Grant against the Vikings, Larry Johnson against the Patriots, Steven Jackson against the Eagles or Ricky Williams against the Jets.

Question - Who is the sleeper of the week at RB?

Answer - Laurence Maroney had a big finish in 2007, but hasn’t done squat in the pre-season, thus getting no love from fantasy owners. Expect a coming out party from number 39 against the Chiefs young defense.
