Fantasy Impact: Paul Posluszny Winning an IDP Fantasy Football league can be much easier that it sounds - if you develop a solid strategy. Don’t worry, this one won’t hurt your brain - it’s simple - let other owners waste early picks on high-priced individual defensive players, while you hoard invaluable offensive studs, and let IDP sleepers fall to you in the late rounds. Step one - identifying the best IDP sleepers.

One of our top sleeper linebackers in 2008 is Buffalo Bills second year man Paul Posluszny. Poz was a second round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2007, and started his rookie year at middle linebacker before suffering a season ending injury in Week 3. Not only is the second year man from Penn State completely healthy heading into 2008, but he’s also the captain of the defense, and will call the plays in the defensive huddle.

His teammates have done nothing but talk about what a great talent he is, and how he’s ready to dominate in 2008. Granted, you hear a lot of that kind of talk this time of year - but this is warranted. Poz is extremely smart, and quick to the ball, and at 6′1″, 238, he’s a prototypical middle linebacker in the NFL. With the additions of DT Marcus Stroud and WLB Kawika Mitchell, the supporting cast will help put Poz in a position to rack up a ton of tackles in 2008.

In tackle-only IDP leagues, Poz is a gem of a sleeper in the late rounds, as he’s someone who could outperform all other players at his position - no joke.

In IDP leagues that award points for both tackles and big plays, he’ll still stand out while likely posting many 10-plus solo tackle games.

We’re really high on this kid, and consider him a phenomenal dynasty IDP prospect as well. He’ll likely be available in many dynasty drafts usually reserved for rookies, and will definitely warrant late second round consideration in those formats. Dynasty owners who get him on the cheap will be extremely happy a few short weeks into the season.

Seasonal owners, let other folks in your league draft Brian Urlacher in round eight, while you snag Posluszny in round 17. Bold prediction of the year - Poz outscores Urlacher in 2008.
