Johnson, Bradley, Kearse, Jones Rising; Walker, Washington, Alexander Falling…

Rising - Bryant Johnson, 49ers WR - 26 year old 6′3″ WR Bryant Johnson signed a one-year deal with San Francisco. This could be just what the former first rounder needs to get his career in gear. He now goes from being one of the NFL’s most talented back-up WRs to being in one of the NFL’s most high powered passing offenses. He definitely could play the Roy Williams roll in Mike Martz’s offense.

Rising - Stewart Bradley, Eagles MLB - Second year LB Stewart Bradley looks likely to start in the middle for the Eagles in 2008, now that Takeo Spikes is gone and Omar Gaither has moved over to the outside to replace him. We’ll follow Bradley closely, but it’s extremely likely that he’ll be the Barrett Ruud of 2008.

Rising - Jevon Kearse, Titans DE - The original “freak” of nature is 31 years old, and hasn’t been the same since a knee injury in 2002, but he’ll get another chance to start for the team that gave him his start. Kearse doesn’t have the same physical gifts, but he’s HUGE, and if he can stay healthy and use his veteran savvy to get to the QB, he could be a fantasy sleeper in 2008. With Antwan Odom and Travis LaBoy signing elsewhere in free agency, Kearse will be a shoe in to start opposite Kyle Vanden Bosch.

Rising - Julius Jones, Seahawks RB - Jones will turn 27 during training camp, and has really struggled the last two seasons in Dallas, but is still the best thing that Seattle has at running back after the recent signings of he and T.J. Duckett. Jones should easily pick up 15-20 carries as Seattle’s starter, making him a solid RB3 in 12 team leagues in 2008. His dynasty value isn’t huge, but he’s a great mid to late round seasonal sleeper.

Falling - Javon Walker, Raiders WR - We’ve always liked Javon, but the fact that the Raiders were the only team to offer him significant money is a major concern. Not only is Oakland typically stupid, but they’re horrible. With JaMarcus Russell entering his first year as a starter, don’t expect too much from Walker this season.

Falling - Leon Washington, Jets RB - The recent signing of Jesse Chatman just made the Jets backfield way too crowded. Besides that, they haven’t really shown a commitment to Washington, even though he’s their most talented running back. Until injuries happen in front of him on the depth chart, he won’t have much value in any format.

Falling - Shaun Alexander & Maurice Morris, Seahawks RBs - Wow. The additions of Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett have made this below average tandem look like dead meat. We expect Alexander to be released soon, and Morris will have zero value as Seattle’s RB3 in 2008.
