Bye-Week Blessings

October 9, 2008

Bye-Week Blessings While fantasy owners were dreading the Week 6 byes of guys like Chris Johnson, Lee Evans, Hines Ward, Marshawn Lynch, Dwayne Bowe, Larry Johnson and Ben Roethlisberger, the fact of the matter is that the break couldn’t have come at a better time for just about all of the teams sitting one out. Believe It Or Not - Rashard Is Ready

September 26, 2008

Believe It Or Not - Rashard Is Ready Steelers rookie RB Rashard Mendenhall, who only has 10 carries in the first three games of his NFL career, has been thrust into a starting role for the next two weeks against Baltimore and on the road at Jacksonville. Critics may say he faces two tough defenses and can’t hang onto the football, but our sources believe he’s ready to shine in his two-game audition as Pittsburgh’s starting RB. Read more

Be A Draft Trend Setter

July 24, 2008

Be A Draft Trend Setter I like to say that it’s never a bad idea to start a trend in a fantasy draft. The trends I’m referring to are more commonly known as “runs.” However, I should clarify. Don’t be the guy that takes a QB or a TE in round one, but be thinking about literally staying ahead of your competition as you draft. Read more

Experts Draft: There’s Value In Round 5

June 19, 2008

calvin-johnson.jpgThroughout our entire experts draft, I’ve been stressing the importance behind waiting until round five to take a quarterback. As you’ll see, there are plenty of top signal callers available at this point in our draft. However, QB isn’t the only position where value can be found, as Detroit’s Calvin Johnson, Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe and Green Bay’s Greg Jennings are all top young WRs who flew off the board in round five. Dennis Dixon To See The Field…

April 30, 2008

The Steelers have come out and said that Dennis Dixon - who is ahead of schedule rehabbing his torn ACL - will not switch positions. The 6′5″ athlete will be Ben Roethlisberger’s primary back-up, but will also see the field occassionally to switch things up on a key play.

Bruce Arians is much more creative than Ken Whisenhunt ever was as Steelers OC, and he could definitely use Dixon on some trick plays, the same way Antwaan Randle El was incorporated from time-to-time. Arians also may simply sit Big Ben on a couple plays this year and let the athletic Dixon have a few game reps. This doesn’t impact Ben’s fantasy value at all.

Steelers Take Dennis Dixon In Round Five…

April 27, 2008

Pittsburgh continued to address offense in round five, snagging Oregon QB Dennis Dixon - who has shown videos of himself rehabbing from a torn ACL every step of the way on the internet to ease the mind of NFL scouts - after taking Rashard Mendenhall in round one and Limas Sweed in round two.

Dixon will ease into a back-up role behind Ben Roethlisberger, and doesn’t have a real chance to be fantasy worthy, though he would be a sexy waiver wire pick up if Big Ben goes down at some point late in 2008 or early in 2009.
