We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About
November 2, 2008
Week 9 was a crazy one, as a few struggling superstars bounced back and had great games, while other guys who were on a roll, just couldn’t keep it up. Second year WRs like Detroit’s Calvin Johnson and Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe continued to be consistent fantasy options, and look like the future studs of the position. Read more

Keep An Eye On Second Year WRs
July 8, 2008
One year ago, Denver’s Brandon Marshall absolutely lit the world on fire in this second NFL season, hauling in 102 passes for more than 1,300 yards and seven TDs. New Orleans’ Marques Colston caught 98 balls for 1,202 yards and 11 TDs in his second season, and Green Bay’s Greg Jennings also had a breakout season, scoring 12 times while racking up more than 900 yards and 50 catches. The point is that second year WRs are now truly worthy of watching, as KC’s Dwayne Bowe and others threaten to be potent fantasy weapons in 2008. Read more

Experts Draft: There’s Value In Round 5
June 19, 2008
Throughout our entire experts draft, I’ve been stressing the importance behind waiting until round five to take a quarterback. As you’ll see, there are plenty of top signal callers available at this point in our draft. However, QB isn’t the only position where value can be found, as Detroit’s Calvin Johnson, Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe and Green Bay’s Greg Jennings are all top young WRs who flew off the board in round five. Calvin Johnson To Be Focused In 2008…
June 18, 2008
Rotoworld reports that the reason 2007 second overall pick Calvin Johnson missed Lions practices earlier this off-season was due to the fact that his father had heart surgery. His dad is reportedly doing well now, and Johnson is ready to take the field in 2008.
He should be a solid contributor, especially since his back is expected to be fully healthy. We consider him a solid WR2 in most formats, with WR1 potential - yes, even in Detroit.
Lions WRs Happy & Ready For 2008…
June 14, 2008
KFFL reports that Lions WR Roy Williams is happy with his contract situation, and that Calvin Johnson is extremely optimistic regarding his health and the Lions offense under new offensive coordinator Jim Colletto.
The Lions have been known for being all talk during the off-season, so to a certain extent, we’ll believe it when we see it. On the other hand, at least the news is positive.
We like Johnson and Williams to be top end WR3s in all league formats in 2008.
Calvin Johnson Injury Update…
April 21, 2008
We’re monitoring the health status of 2007 second overall pick Calvin Johnson, as his dynasty owners are likely counting on him being a breakout WR candidate in 2008. CJ a.k.a. Megatron recently admitted he was on severe pain killers for the second half of his rookie year, but heading into 2008, he feels like he’s recovering well.
A healthy Calvin Johnson could mean huge things for his owners this year, but back problems are almost always reoccurring.
Calvin Johnson’s Back Is Healthy…
April 11, 2008
Detroit Lions stud WR Calvin Johnson says his back is feeling much better after he took five weeks off this off-season. He is now back participating in Detroit’s off-season program and he says he still has some stiffness and he can “feel it,” but he isn’t limited on the field anymore.
The 6′5″ Johnson admitted that his back really bothered him throughout his rookie season and limited what he could accomplish. His lack of consistency in 2007 could actually make him one of the best sleepers in 2008 seasonal drafts. If he’s available in rounds 6-8, snatch him and get ready to see some rewards. Johnson should be a top end WR2 this year, even in Detroit’s dismal offense. Dynasty owners already value this guy a ton, and seasonal and keeper owners will want to follow suit soon.
