Fantasy Impact: J-Stewart Is Legit

August 28, 2008

Fantasy Impact: J-Stewart Is Legit He’s not the host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central, but he may rapidly become the most famous person named Jon Stewart - especially if he continues to run the way he did against Washington on Saturday night. Read more

Fantasy Impact: DeAngelo Williams

August 12, 2008

Fantasy Impact: DeAngelo Williams We love saying “I told you so.” After all, that’s the business we’re in, right? Helping you win your fantasy leagues. We should be able to say “I told you so” quite a bit. One point we have not waivered on - even when many have - is that DeAngelo Williams will be the starting and featured back for the Carolina Panthers in 2008. During preseason Week 1, he took a step towards the direction of making us look really good. Read more

Find Out Who Not To Count Out In 2008…

August 11, 2008

Many things happen in the off-season that can appear to negatively affect a player’s fantasy value. Injuries, trades, free-agent signings, position changes and draft picks are just a few examples. However, we all know that the biggest indicator of what’s real is what happens on the field. Check out who’s stock is rising or falling based on the first full weekend of NFL pre-season games. Experts Draft: Galloway Still Has Value?

June 23, 2008

joey-galloway.jpg After a short hiatus from analyzing the most recent expert draft I participated in , it’s time to get right back to it. There are many interesting issues to discuss, namely 37 year old (soon-to-be, anyway) Joey Galloway being taken at the beginning of the round, with names like Donald Driver, Anthony Gonzalez, Jerricho Cotchery and Vincent Jackson still on the board. More On Jonathan Stewart…

May 29, 2008

If you’ve followed our content closely this off-season, you know that we’re not really that high on Panthers rookie RB Jonathan Stewart in terms of him making a real fantasy impact - due to the presence of DeAngelo Williams.

However, Rotoworld reports that one of the Panthers beat writers is saying that Stewart will handle the bulk of the rushing load this year for Carolina. We still find this very hard to believe, and we like rookie backs like Darren McFadden, Rashard Mendenhall, Kevin Smith, Matt Forte and Chris Johnson much better than Stewart.

Keep in mind, just a few weeks ago, Stewart was pegged as Carolina’s primary kick returner - not the job of a featured RB.

Tie Goes To The Raider

May 19, 2008

darren-mcfadden-minicamp-2.jpgWe’ve made it pretty clear how we feel about Raiders rookie RB Darren McFadden as a dynasty prospect, ranking him in our top 15 overall players. We’ve also have made it obvious that he’s the best seasonal rookie running back prospect. That’s why, at the conclusion of our recent No-Offseason Reader’s Poll, we’ve given the edge to D-Mac, even though just as many readers thought Jonathan Stewart was a better investment in 2008. Mike Turner Moving Up The Boards

May 15, 2008

michael-turner-minicamp.jpgMore and more fantasy owners are believing the buzz about new Falcons featured back Michael Turner, and they should. He’s moving up the draft boards in many expert mocks, due to the fact that Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey plans on getting him 300 touches in 2008. Read more

Jonathan Stewart To Return Kicks…

May 15, 2008

The Charlotte Observer is reporting that Panthers head coach John Fox plans on having rookie Jonathan Stewart be the team’s primary kick returner in 2008. Folks, featured backs don’t return kicks. This was DeAngelo Williams’ job for his first two seasons.

We’re starting to think this means GREAT things for DeAngelo’s value in 2008, and means Stewart won’t have as big of a role on offense as many thought.

For the record, we weren’t high on Stewart in 2008 before this news, and now we’re really not. Williams should be a solid RB3 in PPR leagues.

2008 Outlook: Welcome To Splittsville

May 6, 2008

parker-mendenhall.jpgFollowing the 2008 NFL Draft, it appears several more NFL teams will not only be using the dreaded “running back by committee,” but they’ll really be splitting reps up evenly between multiple rushers. For fantasy owners, it’s worked in New Orleans, Dallas and Jacksonville, but will the vision of NFL coaches in Carolina, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Houston translate into the same results? Read more

Jonathan Stewart Injury Update…

April 28, 2008

Word is that 13th overall pick in the NFL Draft Jonathan Stewart will be 100 percent by training camp. His toe injury will be fully healed, likely due to the fact that he got a head start on things and had surgery back in February.

Stewart will be the thunder to DeAngelo Williams’ lighting in a solid 1-2 fantasy punch in Carolina. Both backs are fantasy worthy, with Williams being the better PPR/seasonal option, and Stewart the better TD-only/dynasty option.

Discuss this more in our forums.

Post NFL Draft Risers & Fallers - Fargas Is This Year’s Chester Taylor & More…

April 28, 2008

Following the NFL Draft every year, there are several players - both incoming rookies and seasoned veterans - whose fantasy outlook completely change based on what players were added to their team. Whether you call this collateral damage, or just life, the bottom line is that once the cards are dealt, their value and chance at production either increases or decreases. Here is a look at the biggest name players to have their fantasy value affected based on the 2008 NFL Draft… Read more

Sorry DeAngelo Owners; Panthers Grab Stewart…

April 26, 2008

Wow, we’re puzzled with this pick. The Panthers did not need a running back with this pick. With an opportunity to add a OG like Branden Albert, they freaking took an RB in the first round for the second time in three seasons. Puzzling as hell. Williams’ fantasy sexiness/value goes down with this pick, as a split-carry scenario should ensue.

The Panthers’ team doctor was apparently the one that performed Stewart’s toe surgery this off-season. We believe this means the Panthers had inside information that Stewart will be ready for training camp.
