IDP Transaction Analysis

July 10, 2008

IDP Transaction AnalysisOne huge misconception among fantasy owners is that defensive players who change addresses carry the exact same fantasy value with them to their next team. In fact, the truth is quite to the contrary in that off-season player movement can have a significant impact not only on the relocated player, but also on his former teammates and the IDPs on the squad he’s joining. Let’s look at some key guys that have switched uniforms this off-season. Read more

IDP Update: Wilson And Huff…

May 26, 2008

Word out of Oakland is that the Raiders’ pair of young safeties are meshing extremely well together. Michael Huff, who has manned the strong safety spot for the last two seasons, has moved over to free safety upon the arrival of free agent acquisition Gibril Wilson.

The two are apparantely enjoying playing with each other in practice thus far, and are worth watching for both IDP and team defense purposes.

Stallworth Signs Long Term Deal With Browns…

March 2, 2008

27 year old WR Donte’ Stallworth signed a seven year contract with the Cleveland Browns.  This is an absolutely near perfect fit.  Stallworth will start opposite Braylon Edwards and will become a serious deep target for Derek Anderson.  We like him already as a solid WR3 in 2008.

Bernard Berrian, Vikings WR
No-Offseason.com
Bernard Berrian signed a six year, $42 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings.  We love this move for Brad Childress’ squad.  With Berrian and Sidney Rice stretching the field, Tarvaris Jackson should improve big time and could possibly even become a fantasy option in 2008.

Keary Colbert, Broncos WR

After releasing Javon Walker, the Broncos signed free agent Keary Colbert to a two year deal.  This is a very interesting move, considering Colbert has underachieved big time.

Gibril Wilson, Raiders SS

The Raiders inked Gibril Wilson, a top IDP defensive back.  This could spell a bit of trouble for former top 10 pick Michael Huff.

Devery Henderson, Saints WR

The Saints signed Henderson - a home run hitter - to a one year deal.

Terry Glenn, Cowboys WR
No-Offseason.com
Cowboys WR Terry Glenn has decided not to undergo microfracture surgery this off-season.  This is a great decision, since that kind of surgery would almost certainly end his career immediately.  His bone-on-bone will continue to limit him.

Javon Done In Denver…

February 29, 2008

The Broncos released Javon Walker on Friday, February 29, the first day of the free agent signing period.  We expect him to sign very soon with a team like Philly, Dallas, Tampa, Tennessee or Minnesota.

Shaun Rogers, Bengals DL

The Bengals traded a third round pick and a fifth round pick to Detroit for Shaun Rogers.  This is a great move by the Lions, who now get to bolster their squad and rid themselves of a trouble maker.

Gibril Wilson, Free Agent SS
No-Offseason.com
The Raiders - who have reportedly been unhappy with SS Michael Huff, are meeting with free agent SS Gibril Wilson.  Wilson has been one of the top fantasy defensive backs over the last few seasons and will continue to be due to his tackling ability.

Devery Henderson, Free Agent WR
No-Offseason.com
The Buccaneers, who desperately need some help at WR, are meeting with unrestricted free agent Devery Henderson.  Henderson is a home run hitter and is unlikely to ever really be a consistent fantasy option.

Travis LaBoy, Free Agent DE
No-Offseason.com
LaBoy will reportedly meet with the Browns.  If he signs with a 3-4 team, his fantasy value will decrease.

Mewelde Moore, Free Agent RB
No-Offseason.com
Mewelde Moore - seen as a “sleeper” free agent this offseason - will meet with the Buccaneers, along with Marques Douglas, former Niners DE.
