Should You Be Concerned About Star QBs?

September 3, 2008

Should You Be Concerned About Star QBs? Over the last few seasons, New England’s Tom Brady and Indianapolis’ Peyton Manning have been two of the most consistent quarterbacks that fantasy owners could have ever imagined. Not that they won’t continue to be very solid in 2008, but don’t take their past performances for granted. Read more

Fantasy Sleeper: Marvin Harrison

Fantasy Impact: Marvin Harrison

July 18, 2008

Fantasy Impact: Marvin Harrison Fantasy football draft guides and player rankings are definitely an important part of preparing for the upcoming fantasy football season - no question. However, it’s important to take an in-depth look at some players who may outperform where they are ranked. For the record, we believe Indy’s Marvin Harrison falls in that category. Read more

Colts Stars To Start On PUP List?

June 15, 2008

KFFL is reporting that Colts beat writer Mike Chappell has written that Colts stars Bob Sanders, Dwight Freeney and Marvin Harrison could “open the season on the PUP (Physically Unable To Perform) list.” Before fantasy owners jump to conclusions here, we all but guarantee that the report meant to say that the trio could open training camp on the PUP list - not the regular season. There is a huge difference. Players who open training camp on the PUP list can be activated at any time. Players who open the pre-season on the PUP list must sit out for the team’s first six regular season games.

We think all three will be active to start the pre-season.

Mike Hart Running His Mouth Again…

June 9, 2008

According to CNNSI.com, former U-M running back Mike Hart, who is well known in the Midwest for running his mouth, has made recent comments about how easy the NFL is for him, telling the media - “the only surprise is it’s not as tough as I thought it was going to be, as far as practice and those type of things,” he said. “It’s more laid back.” Hart was a sixth round pick of the Indianapolis Colts this past April, and made a reputation out of bashing rival Michigan State after several close games with the Spartans over his four year career.

Let’s see how “easy” things are for Hart once training camp begins. With the signing of Dominic Rhodes this off-season, Hart isn’t even guaranteed a roster spot.

Marvin Harrison Still Missing From OTAs…

June 5, 2008

Colts WR Marvin Harrison has missed OTAs thus far, but reportedly because he’s working out on his own in Philly, to continue to rehab his knee. He missed most of 2007 with a burst bursa sac, but doctors are saying that he’s on schedule to return healthy in 2008.

We have faith, but many fantasy owners won’t believe it until they see it. As a result, Harrison is a huge x-factor in fantasy football this season. The draft value of Anthony Gonzalez definitely is dependent upon the verdict of Harrison’s status heading into 2008.

Manning Says Harrison Will Be Back Strong…

May 17, 2008

Rotoworld is reporting that Peyton Manning made comments after Colts practice yesterday saying that he believes Marvin Harrison will be not only be 100 percent by the start of the season, but that he’ll return to a high level of play as well.

The entire Colts organization seems confident that Harrison can come back strong. Even though he’s sitting out practices due to his knee problems, it’s a good sign that he’s attending.

He could be a solid value in seasonal leagues as he’s likely to slip in drafts.

Marvin Harrison To Show At Mini-Camp…

May 14, 2008

Rotoworld is reporting that Marvin Harrison will attend Colts mini-camp this weekend, but not participate. The legal issues have died down in recent days, but could resurface. The Colts have seemed confident in Harrison’s health and his standing with the law, so we’re not too concerned at this point.

Examining Joseph Addai’s Value

May 8, 2008

joseph-addai.jpgSo, the Colts brought back trusty ol’ Dominic Rhodes again, signing him to a one year deal. The question is - should Joseph Addai’s fantasy owners be worried about a potential time share? After all, Rhodes is a former 1,000 yard rusher for the Colts, and he did rush for more than 1oo yards in Super Bowl XLI. Read more

Dominic Rhodes Signs With Indy…

May 7, 2008

After a one-year hiatus from relevant NFL franchises, Dominic Rhodes has signed a deal with the Indianapolis Colts, following his recent release from the Oakland Raiders. Rhodes will re-join the team he won a Super Bowl with, and will likely back-up Joseph Addai.

Make no mistake about it though, this isn’t 2006. Addai is a superstar now, and Rhodes isn’t competing with a rookie anymore. When it comes to sharing the workload, Rhodes is more likely to be sharing carries and reps with Mike Hart, than Addai.

In other words, Addai owners should not worry about this move from a fantasy standpoint.

The Latest On Marvin Harrison…

May 6, 2008

Word is that even though Marvin Harrison’s gun was apparently used in a shooting last week in Philadelphia, that he is officially not a suspect in the crime investigation.

This all but rules out the possibility of him facing any league punishment, which in turn, saves his fantasy value.

Jacob Tamme Has A Role In Indy…

May 3, 2008

As you know, we’ve jocked Kentucky TE Jacob Tamme for some time now. The Colts recently released veteran TE Bryan Fletcher, which leads us to believe that they have a big role planned for Tamme as Dallas Clark’s back-up.

Earlier this off-season, the Colts lost Ben Utecht to the Bengals, which makes Fletcher’s release even that much more surprising.
