Shockey Traded, Fantasy Value Rises Huge…

July 21, 2008

It’s not very often that two of the NFL’s biggest names get traded within 24 hours of one another, but lucky us - it happened this week, as Washington acquired Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Taylor, and New Orleans saved Jeremy Shockey from a situation he did not want to be in. In this week’s stock market report, find out why fantasy owners of Taylor and Shockey should be just as happy about the moves. Read more

MIA: Redskins targeting Jason Taylor

July 20, 2008

Jason Taylor (DE) 7/20: John Clayton of ESPN reports that the Redskins are targeting Jason Taylor following the season-ending knee injury sustained by Phillip Daniels Sunday. No-Offseason Take: This would be huge for Taylor's IDP value, as he'd remain at DE in Washington. Discuss this more in our forums.

Jason Taylor To Green Bay Packers?

June 20, 2008

ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that Jason Taylor is unlikely to be dealt to the Packers.

No-Offseason Take: Green Bay had reportedly inquired about Taylor earlier in the week. His IDP value would increase in full service leagues with a move back to a 4-3 team.

Jason Taylor To The Packers?

June 19, 2008

Apparently, the Green Bay Packers have made some under the table inquiries about Dolphins 34 year old defensive end Jason Taylor, according to Rotoworld.

They also point out that there could be a need opposite Aaron Kampman, with Cullen Jenkins potentially moving to tackle, and Kabeer Gbiaja-Biamila recovering from knee surgery.

If Taylor is dealt to a 4-3 team like the Packers, his fantasy value would definitely see an increase in leagues that require starters at defensive end.

Selvin Young’s Stock Is Soaring, Henry Done…

June 5, 2008

In June, there aren’t many factors that can really make a huge difference in a player’s fantasy value, but we keep our Stock Market Report popping anyway. Certain guys are really shining in organized team activities, while others are faltering or experiencing off-the-field issues of concern. Some teams also elect to cut the fat in certain areas, potentially creating solid opportunities for other guys on the squad. Lastly, sometimes contract situations that become resolved this time of year can shed a whole new light on players. Read more

Sparano Wants Taylor To Stay…

June 4, 2008

In a radio interview today, Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said he really wants Jason Taylor to remain with the Dolphins in 2008. My, how the tune has changed from just a few short weeks ago.

Could it be that the Dolphins realize they can’t get squat for him on the trade market?

Again, if Taylor stays in Miami and is scored in fantasy leagues as an OLB in their 3-4 defense, his IDP value will go down.

Jason Taylor Headed To Dallas Cowboys?

June 2, 2008

Well, the latest rumor in the Jason Taylor saga is the possibility that he’ll be traded to Dallas for Greg Ellis.

Taylor reportedly would love to play in Big D, for a contender such as the Cowboys. He’s even willing to redo his contract to make it happen.

We’re still not sure his fantasy value would translate to a 3-4 defense, even though he’d be a force to be reckoned with opposite DeMarcus Ware.

Jason Taylor Pulling A Strahan?

June 1, 2008

jason-taylor.jpgIs it just me, or does what soon-to-be 34 year old Dolphins DE Jason Taylor is doing feel a lot like what Michael Strahan did last year? I mean, we’re looking at a veteran guy, who is still in phenomenal playing shape, who obviously does not need to attend voluntary workouts, taking a little bit of time off in the off-season towards the end of his career. Is the Taylor situation really that big of a deal? Read more

Several Veterans Won’t Skip Mini-Camp…

May 30, 2008

We’re hearing that guys like Chicago’s Brian Urlacher, New Orleans’ Marques Colston and Cincy’s T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and even Miami’s Jason Taylor and Arizona’s Anquan Boldin and Edgerrin James will not skip upcoming mandatory mini-camps in June.

This is a tell-tale sign that this “voluntary” off-season stuff doesn’t hold much weight with some guys.

It’ll be interesting to see if Cleveland’s Kellen Winslow shows up in Cleveland as well. We believe he will.

Jason Taylor Could Stay With Dolphins…

May 27, 2008

Right now, it appears that the Jacksonville Jaguars are the team showing the most interest in acquiring Dolphins DE Jason Taylor, and if we had to bet on the situation, we might sway that way. However, ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that there’s a good chance Taylor could remain with the ‘Phins in 2008.

If Taylor does play in Miami this season, his IDP value will plummet, as he’ll likely be scored as a LB in Tony Sparano’s 3-4 defense.
