We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About

October 5, 2008

We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About Larry Johnson came alive in Weeks 3 & 4, rushing for 319 yards and three TDs after a horrible start to the season. We told fantasy owners to avoid him in Week 5 as the Chiefs visited the Carolina Panthers. LJ rushed the rock seven times for a grand total of two freaking yards. Find out who else we were right about, and who we missed on in Week 5. Read more

October 2, 2008

Week 5 - Who We Like, Who We Dislike Week 5 of the NFL season promises to be very interesting, folks. From fantasy owners dealing with injuries and bye weeks, to new faces in new places, there is much to analyze. However, we here at No-Offseason.com still know who we like and who we don’t like heading into Week 5…and for everyone in between, you can always check out our player rankings. Read more

Fantasy Impact: Kyle Orton

August 24, 2008

Fantasy Impact: Kyle Orton Considering the Bears had an absolutely putrid passing offense last season (and overall offense in general), and the Chicago franchise has really had a signal caller worth mentioning since Jim McMahon, is it really even worth mentioning Kyle Orton’s name in fantasy discussions? “Slot RBs” Are Becoming All The Rage

June 20, 2008

Slot RBs Are Becoming All The RageIt started a couple years ago when the New Orleans Saints had versatile running back Reggie Bush “fall” to them at number two overall in the 2006 NFL Draft. The trend I’m referring to of course is running backs that play wide receiver more than they do halfback - aka “slot RBs.” Our sources around the NFL have confirmed that more and more teams will start using their back-up RBs as slot receivers, in an effort to add more explosive elements to throw off opposing defenses. Rex Grossman vs. Kyle Orton…

May 31, 2008

Bears QB Kyle Orton won round one, working with the first team in practice on Friday. Reportedly, Rex Grossman worked with the first team on Saturday though.

Okay, we’re just going to come out and say this right now. This QB battle won’t be solved during training camp, or even the pre-season. Grossman vs. Orton will last until December 2008 - trust us.

Stay far away from the Bears QB situation this year.

Bears Revamping Offense?

May 30, 2008

The Chicago Bears have made it very clear that nobody’s starting jobs are safe in terms of offensive skill positions. Kyle Orton and Rex Grossman will duke it out for the starting QB spot, while Matt Forte and Cedric Benson will battle for the starting RB spot.

We love the fact that there will actually be one winner of the RB job, and our money is on Forte.

As far as the wide receiver jobs go, Devin Hester, Mark Bradley, Brandon Lloyd, Marty Booker, Earl Bennett and Marcus Monk will vie for two starting spots. Hester and Bennett are the most intriguing prospects. Monk is a very talented, 6′5″ sleeper prospect who could make an impact in the red zone down the line.

Terry Glenn To Comeback In 2008?

February 25, 2008

Despite the fact that he missed all of the 2007 regular season with bone-on-bone in his knee, Dallas owner Jerry Jones says that 34 year old WR Terry Glenn will be a huge factor in the team’s offense in 2008.  We disagree wholeheartedly with the owner and recommend that fantasy owners avoid Glenn.

Robert Ferguson, Free Agent WR

The veteran is expected to re-sign with the Vikings, whom he started for towards the end of 2007.  He’s likely to come off the bench in 2008, as Sidney Rice and a WR to be named later emerge.

Kyle Orton, Bears QB

The Bears recently signed Rex Grossman to a one-year, $3 million deal and are expected to sign Kyle Orton to a similar deal.  Both QBs are expected to be the front runners for the starting job in Chi-Town.

Derek Smith, Chargers LB
No-Offseason.com
The Chargers signed the 33 year old free agent after seven seasons with the Niners.  Don’t expect him to make a fantasy impact at all.  The best case scenario is that he’ll start next to Stephen Cooper on the inside of the team’s 3-4 alignment.

DeAngelo Hall, Falcons CB
No-Offseason.com
Hall met with Mike Smith during the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine regarding his future in Atlanta.  Although Hall has been unhappy with the Falcons for the past two seasons, we expect the new ballcoach to get him to buy in a bit better than Jim Mora and Bobby Petrino ever did.

Jon Kitna, Lions QB
No-Offseason.com
Contradicting what we heard in early January - which is no surprise coming from the Lions, by the way - head coach Rod Marinelli is now saying that 36 year old QB Jon Kitna is the team’s heavy favorite to start in 2008 over Drew Stanton and Dan Orlovsky.  We believe Stanton will get his shot by Week 5.
