LT Campaigns To Be No. 1 Fantasy Pick…

July 17, 2008

You know that fantasy football - which is now an $800 million industry in America - has really made it when one of the NFL’s best players and 2006 NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson is actually out campaigning to be the number one pick in 2008 Fantasy Football drafts.

The following He-Mannish quote was taken from a recent USA Today article, which explains the whole deal…

“I should be the No. 1 pick because I’m proven,” Tomlinson told The Associated Press during the start of the tongue-in-cheek “LT in ‘08″ media blitz promoting [some loser wannabe's site]’s fantasy games. “I’ve been doing it for a while and have experience helping owners win their leagues. I got a good track record, and I’ll be ready on day one.”

Sorry LT - ahem, I mean He-Man, but we have endorsed Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson as our official number one overall draft choice in 2008, regardless of league scoring format.

Special thanks to loyal No-Offseason.com reader and forum member, MahSoonerz, for providing us with this addition of “He-Man.”

Experts Draft: Moss Is Our 1st Choice

June 12, 2008

randy-moss.jpgOne of our favorite parts about June through August is taking part in several seasonal drafts in fantasy football expert leagues. Not only are they highly competitive, but they’re extremely useful in learning about new trends and analyzing different draft strategies and player values. In Fantasy Football Indepth’s expert challenge, No-Offseason.com went head-to-head with publications like Rotoworld.com, Pro Football Weekly, CBSSports.com, Athlon Sports, FantasyGuru.com, USA Today, Fanball.com and more. With the seventh overall choice in the first round, we had a tough decision, but decided to go WR first and roll with New England’s Randy Moss. Read more

Lorenzo Neal To Sign With Cowboys?

June 10, 2008

Word is that 15 year veteran fullback Lorenzo Neal, who was released this off-season by the San Diego Chargers, is looking to sign on with an NFL team somewhere, and Dallas has been mentioned as a possibility.

We believe that Neal’s absence could negatively affect Ladainian Tomlinson’s value this season, and if Neal signed on with Dallas, Marion Barber would end up having one of the best blocking fullbacks of all time clearing the way for him.

LaMont Jordan In Limbo…

June 3, 2008

The Raiders wouldn’t let LaMont Jordan practice with the team today, a clear cut sign that the back will be dealt or released soon.

With Al Davis being paranoid about Denver swooping in to sign Jordan, he’s more likely to be traded then released. However, no team has really expressed interest in giving up anything of value for Jordan - thus the limbo in which he currently sits.

One possibility for him is to be traded to San Diego for a 2009 late round draft pick. Norv Turner was his offensive coordinator in Oakland in 2005 during his one and only solid fantasy season, and Ladainian Tomlinson doesn’t have a clear cut back-up heading into the season - sorry Jacob Hester and Darren Sproles.

LaDainian Tomlinson Is Fully Healthy…

May 17, 2008

Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson told the media that he’s fully recovered and 100 percent healthy after suffering a severely sprained left knee back in January.

Tomlinson is expected to participate fully in training camp this year, and possibly even get some pre-season reps, which is not something he usually partakes in. At the age of 29, it’ll be interesting to see if he starts slowing down at all. We believe that due to the loss of FB Lorenzo Neal, he will.

Mike Turner Moving Up The Boards

May 15, 2008

michael-turner-minicamp.jpgMore and more fantasy owners are believing the buzz about new Falcons featured back Michael Turner, and they should. He’s moving up the draft boards in many expert mocks, due to the fact that Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey plans on getting him 300 touches in 2008. Read more

Ray Rice Is The Next Michael Turner

May 14, 2008

ray-rice.jpgDynasty owners that picked up a guy named Michael Turner off their waiver wire back in 2006 are finally cashing in, as he’s set to assume the featured back roll in Atlanta’s new run-heavy offense. Drawing parallels between players with identical skill sets in strikingly similar situations can usually lead to predicting what opportunities come during one’s career, and Ravens rookie RB Ray Rice looks a lot like Turner to us, in many ways. Mock Draft: Braylon Goes In Round 1

May 7, 2008

braylon-edwards.jpgMock drafts this time of year are crazy, but definitely fun to look at. Now that the NFL Draft is over, the discussion has begun regarding who should go where. Check out the latest expert mock draft I participated in, and you may be surprised to see who was drafted in Round 1, and who “fell” to me at number two overall. Read more

Like It Or Not, LT’s Slowing Down…

May 5, 2008

ladainian-tomlinson.jpgWe’ve been the first to jump off the LaDainian Tomlinson bandwagon this off-season. Yes - he’s been the most productive player in the NFL for the last three or four seasons. Yes - he hasn’t rushed for less than 1,200 yards and 10 TDs or caught less than 51 balls in a single season. He’s been a statistical freak, okay? Then why is he talking about retirement, and why didn’t he play more in the AFC Championship game? Read more

Ladainian Tomlinson Talking Retirement…

May 5, 2008

In an interview with ESPN, Ladainian Tomlinson said that he won’t play five more seasons in the NFL. At the age of 29, we don’t think he has a choice. LT had previously made it clear that he’d play until the top rushing records were broken, but now - more than 7,000 yards away from Emmitt Smith - he’s re-thinking that approach.

Listen, this headline was a bit misleading, in that he’s not going to retire within the next two seasons. However, it is relevant in that his most recent knee injury could be affecting his thinking, which means it could be more serious that anyone has let on.
