Fantasy Impact: Chris Johnson

August 13, 2008

Fantasy Impact: Chris Johnson I know, I know, it’s just the preseason - but fantasy owners have always been able to use the preseason as a gage for predicting what will happen from September through December. But, can one 66-yard TD run really make one player’s draft stock soar that much? Read more

Experts Draft: Witten Is First TE Taken

June 17, 2008

jason-witten-3.jpgYesterday, we left you with Roddy White being selected towards the end of round three of the most recent experts draft, a shocking surprise to us here at No-Offseason.com. Today, we analyze round four and one thing that really caught our eye - Dallas’ Jason Witten being the top tight end taken. Check out the rest of round four and what we think of Witten being snagged prior to Antonio Gates and Kellen Winslow. Read more

Ron Dayne To Join Titans?

May 22, 2008

Free agent RB Ron Dayne is reportedly visiting the Tennessee Titans today. The 30 year old RB played well for Houston last season, but not well enough to stay on their roster this off-season.

He’s almost a clone of LenDale White, so if he signs to become part of Mike Heimerdinger’s offense, he’ll be more of a threat to White’s reps than those of rookie Chris Johnson - who Tennessee wants to spread out and play WR.

How Sub-Par Signal Callers Affect RBs

May 15, 2008

larry-johnson.jpgAfter a breakout campaign in 2004, Willis McGahee’s numbers went down in 2005, from 13 TDs to five, and from 4.0 yards per carry to 3.8, largely due to a change in QBs from Drew Bledsoe to J.P. Losman. Prior to Carson Palmer taking over the starting role in Cincy, Rudi Johnson hadn’t reached 1,000 yards in a season. In the three seasons following Palmer’s appointment, Johnson averaged 1,407 yards and 12 TDs per season. The same way a strong offensive line can help the fantasy value of running backs, lack of strength at QB can hurt it. Larry Johnson is one rusher who could be negatively affected by lack of a solid signal caller in 2008. Read more

Julius Owners: Don’t Believe Holmgren

May 9, 2008

julius-jones.jpgOur sources aren’t buying into Mike Holmgren’s recent coach-speak about using a running back committee. Even though Julius Jones wasn’t spectacular by any means last season in Dallas, he is head and shoulders above Maurice Morris and T.J. Duckett. Our sources believe that Holmgren is using the media to send a message to his running backs that in mid-May, nobody should take anything for granted. However, Jones will definitely be the starter, and see the rock 20-25 times a game, assuming he stays healthy. We also hear that Jones has worked extremely hard in pass protection, and improving his receiving skills this off-season. In other words, Maurice Morris is not a threat to his fantasy value. How Fat Is LenDale White?

May 9, 2008

The Tennessee Titans third year RB - who now faces stiff competition from rookie Chris Johnson - seems a little over-confident heading into 2008, joking around with the media recently about his weight, telling people he wants them to “guess.” Well, LenDale wants us to guess just how fat he is, so - let’s do it.

He says he’s five to 10 pounds from “where he needs to be,” but we think the Titans probably aren’t too concerned with this issue any more. Still White’s fantasy owners need to be aware of Johnson, especially in PPR formats.

2008 Outlook: Welcome To Splittsville

May 6, 2008

parker-mendenhall.jpgFollowing the 2008 NFL Draft, it appears several more NFL teams will not only be using the dreaded “running back by committee,” but they’ll really be splitting reps up evenly between multiple rushers. For fantasy owners, it’s worked in New Orleans, Dallas and Jacksonville, but will the vision of NFL coaches in Carolina, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Houston translate into the same results? Read more

Post NFL Draft Risers & Fallers - Fargas Is This Year’s Chester Taylor & More…

April 28, 2008

Following the NFL Draft every year, there are several players - both incoming rookies and seasoned veterans - whose fantasy outlook completely change based on what players were added to their team. Whether you call this collateral damage, or just life, the bottom line is that once the cards are dealt, their value and chance at production either increases or decreases. Here is a look at the biggest name players to have their fantasy value affected based on the 2008 NFL Draft… Read more

Schaub, Utecht Rising; Henry, White Falling…

April 4, 2008

With free agency pretty much at a stand still for about the last few weeks, the No-Offseason.com Stock Market Report has slowed down a bit. The good news is that it will definitely pick up steam following the NFL Draft at the end of this month. But for now, we’ll monitor a few more of the players who are experiencing a slight rise or fall in value. Read more

Brett Favre Pondering A Comeback?…

April 4, 2008

Packers GM Ted Thompson disputed the rumors that Brett Favre may return to football, saying - “we don’t know anything about it.” I hate to tell you this Ted, but you wouldn’t. If the rumors are true, Favre will be playing somewhere else in 2008.

LenDale White, Titans RB
No-Offseason.com
White has a court date set for May 1 for a citation he received in Denver this offseason. White was cited for several things, including destruction of property. League punishment could definitely occur.

Kenny Wright, Browns DB
No-Offseason.com
Browns DB Kenny Wright was arrested on charges of evading arrest and possession of marijuana. Kenny Wright - not Eric Wright. Eric Wright is a solid fantasy IDP sleeper in 2008. Kenny Wright might be done for good in the NFL after this.

David Garrard, Jaguars QB
No-Offseason.com
Jags owner Wayne Weaver recently said that he expects his team to lock up David Garrard to a long term extension very soon. Garrard has become the heart and soul of the Jags offense and we expect him to only get better from a fantasy perspective, especially in leagues that take away points for INTs. The guy just doesn’t make mistakes.

Chris Henry, Bengals WR
No-Offseason.com
Chris Henry, who is likely to be suspended for all of 2008, was not only called a “one-man crive wave” by a Hamilton County Judge after being arrested, but teammate Chad Johnson told a radio station that the Bengals should not have released him, saying “Man, they can’t let him go. That dude is good. He’s very, very good.  We need him.” Are you freaking serious, Chad? We just lost way more respect for Chad Johnson here. The guy can’t even stay on the field and you NEED him? You want a guy who pissed away hundreds of thousands of dollars? The guy could have freaking stayed home and played X-Box 360 all day and still stayed on the field.
