Harry Douglas Could Be For Real

November 23, 2008

Harry Douglas Could Be For Real Our sources tell us that Falcons rookie Harry Douglas will continue to be a huge factor in the team’s offense. The third rounder from Louisville hasn’t been a consistent producer this season, but his breakout game in Week 12 against the Panthers shouldn’t be overlooked by fantasy owners. Read more

Ranking 2008 Rookie WRs

June 5, 2008

limas-sweed-steelers.jpgSurprisingly, St. Louis’ Donnie Avery was the first WR selected in the 2008 NFL Draft. The speedy route runner from the University of Houston came out of nowhere to become the 33rd overall pick. Just because he was the first pass catcher taken, doesn’t mean it’ll translate to the stat column in 2008. Limas Sweed, however, was the ninth pass catcher taken, and his fantasy value is looking pretty solid heading into 2008. Each season there’s at least one rookie WR who steps up his game and becomes fantasy worthy in his first season, and believe it or not, there is a rhyme or reason to predicting which one it’ll be. Antwaan Randle El Injury Update…

May 20, 2008

Redskins WR Antwaan Randle El underwent arthroscopic knee surgery early in May, and is expected to begin running within the next couple weeks. He should be ready by training camp, but the ‘Skins have no reason to rush him back after acquiring Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly in the NFL Draft.

Thomas puts a huge damper on Randle El’s fantasy potential.

Antwaan Randle El Has Knee Surgery…

May 6, 2008

Redskins WR Antwaan Randle El underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday, but should be ready for Organized Team Activities in a few weeks. Head Coach Jim Zorn was not concerned at all about the procedure.

Could this explain why the ‘Skins took Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft?

‘Skins Take Malcolm Kelly In Round 2…

April 26, 2008

After passing on the opportunity to add a WR in round one, the Redskins took Malcolm Kelly and Devin Thomas in round two.

Kelly, 6′4″, will have a solid opportunity to succeed in Jim Zorn’s offense. As dynasty options go, we think he’s very solid, but probably won’t make an impact in 2008.

The ‘Skins also took USC TE Fred Davis in round two, so obviously offense was a priority on day one for Jim Zorn. Thomas is the best fantasy option of the ‘Skins three day one picks.

Washington Redskins Draft Update…

April 22, 2008

Word from our sources is that the Redskins are looking to draft either a defensive end or a wide receiver with the 21st overall pick. As we’ve reported for some time now, these two positions - along with OLB and CB - are their top needs. So, the question now is, do they take Clemson’s Phillip Merling, Miami’s Calias Campbell, Texas’ Limas Sweed or Oklahoma’s Malcolm Kelly?

Well, we’re hearing that Merling is first on their big board, followed by Kelly, Sweed and Campbell, in that order. Jim Zorn apparently feels that the recently disgruntled Malcolm Kelly would be a great value at number 21 overall.

If the ‘Skins don’t land a WR in round one, they’ll likely target Kansas State’s Jordy Nelson and Houston’s Donnie Avery later on day one.

Malcolm Kelly To Hold Individual Workout…

April 11, 2008

Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly has announced that he will hold yet another individual workout, scheduled for this Sunday, April 13. NFL Scouts will be unable to attend, but Kelly’s agent will distribute the results via video to all NFL teams.

This sounds very T.O.-ish to us. Never-the-less, the Steelers, 49ers, Redskins and Cowboys all have met with him or will be meeting with him soon.

Boley, Rhodes Rising; FWP, Huff, Graham Falling…

April 10, 2008

The post-free agency, pre-NFL Draft Stock Market Report is a little slow, due to the fact that we’ve already talked about where we stand on many players up until this point. Don’t worry though, after the NFL Draft, and during mini-camps and mandatory team workouts, there will be plenty more to discuss. At this point though, there are at least a few guys who are moving around a bit, and we’d like to also introduce a third category to our Stock Market Report. We’ve always traditionally done “rising” and “falling,” but now we’d like to also introduce “steady.” Read more

Despite Bad Day, Teams Like Kelly…

April 10, 2008

We’re hearing that Malcolm Kelly’s “blow up” at this pro day yesterday was definitely a cause for concern, as professional athletes need to be prepared for any type of situation (Kelly had the wrong shoes due to a last minute change from AstroTurf to field turf).

Apparently, pro teams have not lost interest in him, as the Titans, Steelers, Cowboys, Redskins, Eagles, Vikings, Broncos and Bills have all shown plenty of interest despite what happened yesterday. This confirms that he will definitely go in the mid to late first round and still be a fine dynasty league WR prospect. At 6′4″, he’ll be someone for dynasty owners to ride out for at least three years.

Malcolm Kelly Unhappy With Pro Day Results…

April 9, 2008

Oklahoma 6′4″ WR Malcolm Kelly is definitely unhappy with his pro day results. He elected to skip Oklahoma’s actual pro day a month ago due to injury issues, so today’s workout was highly anticipated, as he’s been rated the top WR in the draft since February. He blames a 4.68 forty and less than desirable results in other drills on the fact that he ran on field turf instead of astroturf.

Kelly posted a 32-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-9 long jump, a 4.24-second short shuttle, a 7.00-second three-cone drill and a 4.68 40-yard dash. He measured in at 6-foot-4, 227 pounds.

We were once very high on Kelly, but now we’re starting to lean towards Michigan State’s Devin Thomas as the top WR in the draft. Thomas met with the Miami Dolphins recently.

Bengals Interested In Malcolm Kelly?

April 8, 2008

We know the Bengals will need to draft a wide receiver due to the fact that they recently had to release Chris Henry, and that Chad Johnson could blow at any minute. Apparently the Bengals have told Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly that they’re interested in drafting him. He’d be a first rounder, so Cincy could be looking at trading back to around the 11th or 12th spot, or drafting him at 9th overall.

This type of thing happens a lot around this time of year, so we’re taking it with a grain of salt. We also hear that Cincy is interested in Vandy’s Earl Bennett - a likely second rounder.
