Handcuffing Your Wide Receivers

August 21, 2008

Handcuffing Your Wide Receivers Well, one concept all fantasy owners are now familiar with is “hand-cuffing” – the art of locking up a running back situation by drafting the back-up to your starter. It seems simple enough, and it has really come in handy in the past, especially for owners of Priest Holmes in 2005 and Adrian Peterson in 2007, and many other backs. Heading into 2008, however, it seems there are a couple of scenarios in which the hand-cuffing concept could actually be applied to a different position – wide receiver. Read more

What We Can Learn From The Preseason

August 19, 2008

What We Can Learn From The Preseason Skeptics will look at solid preseason performances by certain NFL players and exclaim - “ah - the preseason doesn’t matter…they’re just playing against the other team’s scrub back-ups anyway.” Well - we think that kind of closed-minded thinking is absolutely nonsense. If the preseason doesn’t matter, than why do starters start and fans attend? Just because the games don’t count, that doesn’t mean there aren’t several things fantasy owners can learn from preseason games. Read more

Evans Has Chemistry With Edwards

July 31, 2008

Evans Has Chemistry With Edwards Bills 27 year old fifth year WR Lee Evans has had a solid pro career thus far, despite not having much stability at the QB position. He began his career catching balls from veteran Drew Bledsoe, and has had to adjust to catching passes from J.P. Losman and Trent Edwards over the past two seasons. However, it looks like Evans and the Bills have finally found their fit in 2008. Read more

Fantasy Impact: Marvin Harrison

July 18, 2008

Fantasy Impact: Marvin Harrison Fantasy football draft guides and player rankings are definitely an important part of preparing for the upcoming fantasy football season - no question. SJax, Harrison & McNabb Are Healthy…

July 14, 2008

We’ve always been pretty progressive here at No-Offseason.com, encouraging our readers to look to the future and find the next rising stars. However, this week’s stock market report starts off by acknowledging to former fantasy football superstars that have a great chance at coming back and lighting up the stat column. Why? Because the only thing that was standing in their way - health issues - appear to be less of a concern heading into 2008. Read more

Why Not Draft In June?

June 21, 2008

matt-forte-2.jpgHey, here’s a crazy idea for fantasy owners to consider. Us so-called “experts” always do most of our drafting in June, in preparation for fantasy magazines and to help provide content for fantasy owners like yourself. However, we end up playing out these leagues, the same way we would if we drafted in August. Obviously, when drafting early, there are a whole lot more unknowns, which results in a smaller margin for error. I personally like it this way, because foresight pays off even more. If you consider yourself an astute owner, why not suggest to your league mates an early draft next year? Read more

Experts Draft: Marvin Falls To Round 6

June 20, 2008

marvin-harrison.jpg One of the biggest questions on the minds of fantasy owners this off-season should honestly be - "when do I swoop in and take Marvin Harrison?" One of the best WRs in recent memory should be available at an all time low price this off-season, after a 2007 campaign riddled with injuries and a 2008 off-season full of off-the-field drama. Still, the 35 year old is a competitor, and will be back to reclaim his spot in fantasy starting line-ups in 2008. Read more

2008 Fantasy “X-Factors”

June 19, 2008

donovan-mcnabb.jpg2008 is chalked full of guys that could go either way. Guys who are more than capable of putting up huge digits, but only if everything goes perfectly right. We call these guys Fantasy “X-Factors” due to the fact that a certain set of circumstances could spark them to light up the stat column and become a true difference maker. Philly’s Donovan McNabb, who has only played in 33 total games in three seasons since throwing for 3,800 yards and 31 TDs in 2004, is the perfect example of a Fantasy “X-Factor.” Read more

Updates: Marvin Harrison & Marshawn Lynch…

June 17, 2008

Fantasy owners have been a little nervous recently about the status of Colts WR Marvin Harrison and Bills RB Marshawn Lynch as it relates to their alleged involvement in two separate off-the-field altercations of which they’ve been dragged into due to their ownership of various possessions.

In Lynch’s case, a car that hit a pedestrian in Buffalo a few weeks ago. In Harrison’s case, a “cop-killing” gun used in a shooting in North Philly a couple months ago.

Word is that Lynch’s case will be resolved soon, and we don’t expect him to do any time or miss any football at all.

Harrison is in a bit of a different situation, in that nobody is coming forward to help the police move this case forward, and it appears to be stalling out. While this is bad news for Philly police, it’s good news for Harrison’s fantasy owners, as there’s really no way that he’ll be in any danger of missing any football due to this circumstance.

Lynch is a solid RB1 and first round draft choice in all league formats, while Harrison is a fantasy X-factor coming back from knee injuries in 2008.

Colts Stars To Start On PUP List?

June 15, 2008

KFFL is reporting that Colts beat writer Mike Chappell has written that Colts stars Bob Sanders, Dwight Freeney and Marvin Harrison could “open the season on the PUP (Physically Unable To Perform) list.” Before fantasy owners jump to conclusions here, we all but guarantee that the report meant to say that the trio could open training camp on the PUP list - not the regular season. There is a huge difference. Players who open training camp on the PUP list can be activated at any time. Players who open the pre-season on the PUP list must sit out for the team’s first six regular season games.

We think all three will be active to start the pre-season.
