Broncos To Get Their Answer At RB

October 29, 2008

Broncos To Get Their Answer At RB So, whatever the heck happened to Selvin Young rushing for 2,000 yards this season? Come on. That pre-season prediction was about as empty as the cupboards in a bachelor pad. The Broncos second year rusher only has only rushed for 266 yards and a TD all season, missing two straight games with a knee injury. However, it appears that Denver is about to finally get their answer at RB. Read more

Don’t Forget About The Finishers

September 23, 2008

Dont Forget About The Finishers Although second year man Le’Ron McClain didn’t score in Week 1, he absolutely carved out a role for himself in the Ravens’ offense. In Week 3, it was clear that role is to finish off drives, as McClain converted twice, while also adding 66 yards on 17 carries. With Willis McGahee likely to be limited to 15 touches per game until his knee is 100 percent, and Ray Rice being forgotten about in Week 3, the 23 year old 260 pounder from Alabama is likely to see all the goal line looks against Pittsburgh in Week 4. Broncos Release Travis Henry…

June 2, 2008

The obvious news of the day is that the Denver Broncos released 30 year old RB Travis Henry. While this may seem a bit surprising, the truth is (that we’ve been reporting for the last month) Henry wasn’t impressive at all in practice, and wasn’t showing signs of getting any better. Pile on top of that the fact that he had a hammy injury that was limiting him, and Mike Shanahan just wanted him gone.

Fantasy owners may be wondering - does this give Henry a shot at fantasy stardom again in 2008? Well, the answer is yes. He’s still a very talented runner, who could regain 1,000 yard form if he lands in the right situation. However, if he lands in a spot with already established players in front of him, he won’t be very useful.

Positive potential spots include Houston, Detroit and Chicago, while spots that wouldn’t really mean much improvement in value include Tennessee, Cleveland, New England and New Orleans.

While Denver could look to add another back, they also could be set due to the fact that they just signed 33 year old Michael Pittman, and second year man Selvin Young is looking very solid thus far in practice. Rookie Ryan Torain, who is a hard, powerful runner, could get an opportunity as well. While you’ll hear some whispers about guys like Shaun Alexander or Ron Dayne visiting Denver looking for a job, don’t be surprised if Shanny rolls with these guys into training camp, and Young becomes the starter.

Broncos To Sign Michael Pittman…

May 27, 2008

Word is that the Broncos will sign Michael Pittman sometime soon. The veteran doesn’t have much left in the tank and won’t be a sure bet to even make the final roster. Rookie Ryan Torain is reportedly seeing increased reps with Travis Henry still out with a hammy injury.

Joe Flacco Projected In Early Second Round…

March 31, 2008

Delaware 6′6″ QB Joe Flacco is apparently being projected as an early second round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, as he’s visited the Falcons, Ravens and Rams over the last several days.  All teams pick in the top 10 of the first round, which would likely be too high to draft Flacco, who many draft experts say has the top arm in the draft.

Eli Manning, Giants QB

Manning, Michael Strahan, Jeremy Shockey and Plax Burress will likely miss Giants early off-season workouts.

Michael Pittman, Free Agent RB

Big surprise here - Rod Marinelli is reportedly interested in bringing in yet another former Tampa Bay Buccaneer - Michael Pittman.  The problem is, the guy is 34 freaking years old and doesn’t solve the Lions RB problems.

Ryan Clark, Steelers FS

Clark is currently atop the Steelers depth chart at free safety.  He is fully recovered from a spleen procedure last season and is reportedly 100 percent healty.

Chris Crocker, Dolphins SS

Crocker signed a one year deal with Miami and will compete with Yeremiah Bell and Keith Davis at SS.

Mike Williams, Titans WR
No-Offseason.com
Titans WR Mike Williams reported to Tennessee’s offseason workouts at 254 pounds, which is 16 lbs lighter than he was last season.  Jeff Fisher is reportedly encouraged, but Williams remains a longshot to actually make the team in 2008, especially with Norm Chow gone.
