Atlanta Falcons Offense To Mirror Titans…

May 13, 2008

Veteran WR Joe Horn is asking for a trade. Not only because he’s far from being a starter, but also because new offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey does not plan to pass the rock much in 2008. Starting RB Michael Turner is expected to easily see more than 300 touches, as the Falcons have stated that they want totake a page out of the Titans strategy book and run the rock to set up Jason Elam for field goals often in 2008.

This is not great news for Roddy White - who was recently held out of practice with a tweaked hammy - and up-and-comer Laurent Robinson. Elam’s value is looking pretty solid though, as he could be this year’s Rob Bironas.

Michael Turner Back To Full Health…

May 11, 2008

Falcons featured back Michael Turner returned to practice this past week after having off-season shoulder surgery. The procedure was very minor, and he’s back to full health.

We expect Turner to be a very solid RB2 in most fantasy leagues in 2008, in Mike Mularkey’s run friendly offense.

Fred Taylor To Call It Quits?

April 18, 2008

fred-taylor.jpg32 year old Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor recently said he’ll only retire after he passes Jim Brown on the all-time NFL rushing list. Freddie needs just less than 1,600 yards next season to do that, but our sources tell us he’s willing to come back in 2009 if he needs to in order to pass Brown. By our calculations, this means we can count on seeing Taylor back in Jacksonville in 2009, but Mojo Drew owners shouldn’t worry. Our sources also tell us that the Jags are ready to hand over “more primary” rushing responsibilities to MJD as early as Week 3 this upcoming season. While both backs could have solid fantasy value in 2008, don’t count on Taylor starting 2008 as well as he finished 2007 in the stat column. Read more
