Tarvaris In Trouble?

September 14, 2008

Tarvaris In Trouble? Everybody that follows the National Football League, and everybody in the National Football League - including Vikings head coach Brad Childress, knows that Childress’ career in Minnesota is directly tied to the success of third year QB Tarvaris Jackson. With the Vikings at 0-2 on the season, is Tarvaris in trouble? Read more

LT Campaigns To Be No. 1 Fantasy Pick…

July 17, 2008

You know that fantasy football - which is now an $800 million industry in America - has really made it when one of the NFL’s best players and 2006 NFL MVP LaDainian Tomlinson is actually out campaigning to be the number one pick in 2008 Fantasy Football drafts.

The following He-Mannish quote was taken from a recent USA Today article, which explains the whole deal…

“I should be the No. 1 pick because I’m proven,” Tomlinson told The Associated Press during the start of the tongue-in-cheek “LT in ‘08″ media blitz promoting [some loser wannabe's site]’s fantasy games. “I’ve been doing it for a while and have experience helping owners win their leagues. I got a good track record, and I’ll be ready on day one.”

Sorry LT - ahem, I mean He-Man, but we have endorsed Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson as our official number one overall draft choice in 2008, regardless of league scoring format.

Special thanks to loyal No-Offseason.com reader and forum member, MahSoonerz, for providing us with this addition of “He-Man.”

MIN: Peterson improved blocking

July 14, 2008

Adrian Peterson (RB) 7/14: Coach Brad Childress said that he expects Adrian Peterson to be better at blocking in pass protection this season, according to the Star Tribune. No-Offseason Take: This means we could definitely see AP on more and more third downs this season, diminishing the role of Chester Taylor. Find out why we think AP is the top pick regardless of format this season.

Pierre Thomas To Contribute In 2008?

July 14, 2008

Pierre Thomas To Contribute In 2008? Our sources are extremely high on New Orleans Saints back-up running back Pierre Thomas heading into 2008. Even though Deuce McAllister appears likely to be healthy enough to regain the starting role heading into Week 1, and Reggie Bush has a fire lit like never before, find out why Thomas has a fantasy football future. Charles Rogers Working Out For Vikings?

June 16, 2008

Rotoworld reports that former Lions second overall pick, WR Charles Rogers will be working out for the Minnesota Vikings, according to his high school football coach.

This is not newsworthy from a fantasy perspective, as Rogers has absolutely no shot to make it back into the league, unless he’s been injected with the stuff that The Incredible Hulk had in him.

His speed is gone, and so are his NFL hopes.

Chester Taylor Attends Vikings OTAs…

June 4, 2008

After many people suspected Chester Taylor could stir up some controversy in Minnesota, he has decided to attend OTAs and accept the role of being Adrian Peterson’s back-up.

Don’t think that means he’ll ride the pine though. Taylor will be a solid RB4 in points per reception leagues, as Minnesota will definitely make sure he gets 9-12 touches a game in relief of AP.

Tarvaris Jackson Looking Solid…

May 28, 2008

Word from Vikings practice is that third year signal caller Tarvaris Jackson has stepped up his game big time this off-season and is looking great.

He’s way more comfortable with his reads, progressions and throws this off-season, and is becoming a leader on the field.

He’s also worked on developing solid chemistry specifically with receivers Bernard Berrian and Sidney Rice, both of whom are solid dynasty sleepers in our book.

We’ve always had faith in Jackson, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him becoming an up-and-comer among fantasy circles leading up to 2008 drafts.

Redskins Acquire Erasmus James…

May 27, 2008

In a curious move, the Washington Redskins traded for chronically injured Vikings DE Erasmus James. The former 18th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft was waived by the Vikes late last week, but when the ‘Skins showed interest, the move was rescinded. Minnesota receives a conditional seventh round pick in 2009.

Wow. Don’t expect much from James in 2008.

Edwards Says He’ll Break Sack Record…

May 25, 2008

Third year Minnesota Vikings LDE Ray Edwards, who was suspended for the final four games of 2007 for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, has predicted that he’ll break the NFL single-season record for sacks. After recording five sacks in 12 games in 2007, it’s absolutely ridiculous to think that he’ll break Michael Strahan’s record of 22.5.

Jared Allen will be starting across from him this year, so it’s not far fetched to think that he could maybe get 8.5 - 10 sacks, making him worth watching in deep IDP leagues.

Sidney Rice, Bernard Berrian To Start…

May 22, 2008

Second year man Sidney Rice, and free agent acquisition Bernard Berrian both lined up as starters exclusively throughout Vikings OTAs. Both have solid fantasy potential as WR3s in deep leagues.

We favor Rice in dynasty leagues, and Berrian in seasonal formats.

Tarvaris Jackson Still Vikings Starter…

April 28, 2008

Word is that third year QB Tarvaris Jackson is still expected to be the team’s starter for the entire 2008 season, despite John David Booty now being on the roster.

This according to Brad Childress, Vikings head coach.
