Bengals To Boot Housh After 2008?
June 2, 2008
One of the Bengals’ beat writers is reporting that Cincy may let 2009 unrestricted free agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh simply walk away after this season.
Wow, does this seem unlikely. Housh is seen as a leader on that team, and Cincy could certainly use the franchise tag on him. Some weird stuff has been going on in the Bengals organization this off-season, from Chad Johnson, to Chris Henry, to Odell Thurman and now Housh. For now, his owners shouldn’t worry at all, but we’ll keep an eye on this.

Dhani Jones To Play MLB In Cincy…
May 19, 2008
Dhani Jones, who signed with the team as an all-purpose LB this off-season, is now the favorite to start at the MLB position upon the release of Odell Thurman. Jones is now officially on the IDP radar, as the middle linebacker position traditionally helps put all LBs in a better position to rack up more tackles.
Keith Rivers has a chance at fantasy stardom if he plays the weak side. With Thurman gone, if Rivers proves himself, he could take over for Jones at the spot later in the season and be this year’s version of Jon Beason. IDPers must pay close attention.
Odell Thurman Released?
May 19, 2008
KFFL reports Bengals MLB Odell Thurman - who was recently reinstated by the NFL - has already been released by the Cincinnati Bengals. Profootballtalk.com had reported that Thurman “will be released.” Thurman missed voluntary workouts due to the death of his grandmother, and that is believed to be one reason for his release. It’s understandable that Cincy wouldn’t have as much tolerance with him due to his past troubles, but this seems like a legit reason to miss workouts.
Expect a team like Detroit to be interested. This helps the fantasy value of rookie LB Keith Rivers, who could migrate to the middle eventually.

Odell Thurman Returns To Bengals…
May 13, 2008
He’s reinstated, and he should return to Bengals practice today. In 2005, he was a rookie out of Georgia and a phenomenal IDP starter at middle linebacker. If all goes well with Thurman’s return to the practice field this off-season, and if he continues to stay out of trouble off-the-field, expect him to play a role in fantasy football in 2008.
The Bengals desperately need him, and if he starts and plays a full season, he could return to being one of the best IDPs in the game.
