Taylor Fitting In Well With Redskins

July 25, 2008

Taylor Fitting In Well With Redskins Since being dealt to the Washington Redskins a day after training camp started, soon to be 34 year old DE Jason Taylor has fit like a glove. Find out why fantasy IDP owners should really take a solid look at Taylor in 2008, and why team defense owners should now look to the Redskins as a sleeper defense. Read more

Freak Says Philly Will Regret Releasing Him…

July 4, 2008

In an interesting comment, soon-to-be 33 year old Titans defensive end Jevon “The Freak” Kearse told the Philadelphia Daily News that the Eagles would regret not re-signing him this off-season.

Come on. Really? Maybe Kearse forgot that he’s only recorded 3.5 sacks in each of the last two seasons, and recently got arrested for driving under the influence (DUI).

Sorry Freak, but you have a false He-Mannish opinion of yourself. Good luck with that.

Donovan McNabb To Resume Throwing Soon…

June 15, 2008

According to KFFL, Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that Eagles QB Donovan McNabb will resume throwing this upcoming week. McNabb told media recently that his body is fine, and that he’s not at all worried about the shoulder.

We expect McNabb to have his best fantasy season since 2004. The only question is, which one of his WRs - Reggie Brown, Kevin Curtis, Jason Avant, DeSean Jackson, TE L.J. Smith or a combination of all - will step up and allow him to air it out the way we know he can?

See where McNabb ranks in our QB rankings.

Donovan McNabb Laughs At Injury Concerns…

June 13, 2008

Yes, Donovan McNabb has tendonitis in his shoulder. Does he seemed concerned with it at all? No. The Eagles’ veteran QB should be fine by the start of training camp and reportedly told media that he considers his shoulder situation a non-issue. An MRI revealed no structural damage, and earlier this off-season it was reported that McNabb’s ACL, which he tore back in 2006, has felt better than ever.

We consider McNabb a top sleeper QB1 candidate in 2008. He’s a guy you can get in the fifth round or beyond, and end up giving you better production than many signal callers who will be taken ahead of him this summer.

DeSean Jackson Still Sidelined With Hammy…

June 10, 2008

Eagles rookie WR DeSean Jackson still remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. He’s now missed almost three straight weeks, which doesn’t bode well for his fantasy potential, as all rookie WRs need all the practice time they can get.

Jackson, a second round speedster from Cal, will compete to be the team’s starting kick returner, as well as the third receiver. Jason Avant is his primary competition for the ladder.

Is Donovan McNabb Injured Already?

June 6, 2008

A good portion of the fantasy football population is expecting Donovan McNabb to get injured at some point this season, and for a moment, it appeared that he had already suffered a shoulder injury.

McNabb - like all starting QBs at this point in the season - has been on a pitch count during practice, and when he neared his pitch count, his balls lost some zip. After that, WR Kevin Curtis made a weird comment to media about McNabb’s shoulder being sore, but the comment had no validity to it, according to others.

McNabb was then seen taking batting practice with the Phillies last night, so we think he’s just fine.

Dynasty owners are showing interest in second year signal caller Kevin Kolb due to McNabb’s injury history, however, we really think McNabb will return to form in 2008.

The Kevin Kolb Discussion…

June 4, 2008

No-Offseason.com readers are starting to talk about the dynasty value of Eagles second year signal caller Kevin Kolb. He looked decent in one preseason game last year, but finds himself behind Donovan McNabb. So, how much of an impact can he actually make?

Well, if McNabb goes down, Kolb appears to be the one who will slide in and take over the duties, as he’s worked with the second team in off-season practices thus far. However, we have faith that McNabb will stay healthy this year, so we’re not sure Kolb is really worth a roster spot - even in deep formats.

Lito Sheppard Still On The Trade Block?

June 3, 2008

Rotoworld is implying that Eagles CB Lito Sheppard is still on the trading block, however, we’ve heard that the team is well past looking to deal him - this season, anyway. Sheppard attended the team’s recent mandatory mini-camp, but likely won’t show up for full squad OTAs this week.

He has minimal fantasy value even in deep leagues anyway.

Lito Sheppard To Play Offense?

May 30, 2008

Rotoworld reports that Eagles CB Lito Sheppard will be used on offense in 2008, in select offensive packages.

To us, this is obviously a ploy to keep him happy since moving him to the third corner role. It shouldn’t affect his fantasy value at all.

L.J. Smith Gives State Of The Union…

May 14, 2008

Philadelphia Eagles TE L.J. Smith told The News Journal that he believes the Eagles offense will bounce back in 2008 after a borderline putrid 2007 campaign. Smith talked about the team having better chemistry in the redzone.

In regards to his health, Smith referred to his 2007 hernia injury as a “fluke” thing.

We tend to agree with Smith, in that the Eagles will be much better with the rock in their possession in 2008, and should use Lorenzo Booker in a pass catching role behind Brian Westbrook.

Philly Loves Lorenzo Booker…

May 9, 2008

The Eagles already like what they see from second year RB Lorenzo Booker, who they stole away from Miami for a fourth round pick. Booker is small but explosive, and racked up 28 catches for 237 yards in only five games last season. We love him as a fit for Philly’s offense, and even though he’ll be Brian Westbrook’s back-up, he may see enough time/receptions to actually contribute on a weekly basis as a flex in deep leagues.

He doesn’t hurt Westbrook’s fantasy value, but he does have some PO of his own. Oh yeah, he’s a necessary handcuff for Westbrook’s seasonal owners.

Lito Sheppard Likely To Stay In Philly…

May 7, 2008

Word out of Philly is that the Eagles are planning to play all three of their corners at the same time in 2008. Sheldon Brown and Asante Samuel are technically the starters, with Lito Sheppard the third corner. Brown can shift over and play some safety, as well as the slot, and this will potentially keep Sheppard happy enough to stick around and play well in 2008.

The Eagles are better suited keeping Sheppard than dealing him for a second rounder in 2009.

This makes all three of these guys worthy of watching in IDP leagues.
