Broncos To Get Their Answer At RB
October 29, 2008
So, whatever the heck happened to Selvin Young rushing for 2,000 yards this season? Come on. That pre-season prediction was about as empty as the cupboards in a bachelor pad. The Broncos second year rusher only has only rushed for 266 yards and a TD all season, missing two straight games with a knee injury. However, it appears that Denver is about to finally get their answer at RB. Read more
Believe It Or Not - Rashard Is Ready
September 26, 2008
Steelers rookie RB Rashard Mendenhall, who only has 10 carries in the first three games of his NFL career, has been thrust into a starting role for the next two weeks against Baltimore and on the road at Jacksonville. Critics may say he faces two tough defenses and can’t hang onto the football, but our sources believe he’s ready to shine in his two-game audition as Pittsburgh’s starting RB. Read more
What’s The Deal With Maroney?
September 12, 2008
For nearly three years now, fantasy owners have been baffled by the saga of Laurence Maroney. He has the skill set to easily be the featured back for the New England Patriots. When given the opportunity towards the end of last season, Maroney played extraordinarily, as he was the primary reason the Pats were able to move the ball in their last seven games. However, Maroney found himself in splittsville with veteran Sammy Morris in Week 1. What gives? Read more

August 6, 2008
Typically, we post our Stock Market Report every Monday, looking back at the previous week, and forecasting what may happen during the week ahead with regard to fantasy football player value. However, a mid-week special edition is in order after recent events at Broncos training camp… Read more
Super Sleeper Running Backs
June 26, 2008
Because five of the top 25 and 13 of the top 40 fantasy RBs were plucked from the waiver wire in 2007, and guys like Earnest Graham, Ryan Grant, Kenny Watson, Chicago’s Adrian Peterson and Justin Fargas made names for themselves, fantasy owners are now forced to pay attention to just about every single running back on all 32 rosters - but how do you sift through the clutter to find the best super sleepers? Broncos Release Travis Henry…
June 2, 2008
The obvious news of the day is that the Denver Broncos released 30 year old RB Travis Henry. While this may seem a bit surprising, the truth is (that we’ve been reporting for the last month) Henry wasn’t impressive at all in practice, and wasn’t showing signs of getting any better. Pile on top of that the fact that he had a hammy injury that was limiting him, and Mike Shanahan just wanted him gone.
Fantasy owners may be wondering - does this give Henry a shot at fantasy stardom again in 2008? Well, the answer is yes. He’s still a very talented runner, who could regain 1,000 yard form if he lands in the right situation. However, if he lands in a spot with already established players in front of him, he won’t be very useful.
Positive potential spots include Houston, Detroit and Chicago, while spots that wouldn’t really mean much improvement in value include Tennessee, Cleveland, New England and New Orleans.
While Denver could look to add another back, they also could be set due to the fact that they just signed 33 year old Michael Pittman, and second year man Selvin Young is looking very solid thus far in practice. Rookie Ryan Torain, who is a hard, powerful runner, could get an opportunity as well. While you’ll hear some whispers about guys like Shaun Alexander or Ron Dayne visiting Denver looking for a job, don’t be surprised if Shanny rolls with these guys into training camp, and Young becomes the starter.
Travis Henry Could Get Cut…
May 19, 2008
We’re hearing that Broncos RB Travis Henry could be released this off-season. Even though he re-worked his deal to stay with the team and make less money, he was a no-show at Broncos OTAs today. Rookie Ryan Torain and second year man Selvin Young would compete for the starting job without Henry, and have a good chance to beat him out even if he does make the roster.
We still think the Broncos have some interest in Shaun Alexander as well.
Mini-Camp Position Battles
May 8, 2008
From a fantasy football owner’s perspective, it may not seem like mini-camp means a whole lot. Many players are nursing minor injuries that won’t really affect them during the season, while other veterans actually elect to work out elsewhere - or in Tony Romo and Jason Taylor’s case - pursue other interests completely. But, there are a few position battles going on in mini-camps near you, which we believe will have an impact on fantasy football in 2008. Read more
Broncos To Cut Travis Henry?
May 7, 2008
Word is that if the Broncos sign veteran Shaun Alexander to back-up Selvin Young and Ryan Torain, then 30 year old Travis Henry is a goner.
And so goes the seemingly endless game of RB musical chairs. Henry has limited fantasy value at this point anyway, and so does Alexander.
We really like Torain the most out of Denver’s RBs.
Ryan Torain Has Fantasy Potential…
April 29, 2008
The word PO is used a lot around here, and it means potential. One NFL rookie RB with HUGE fantasy PO is Denver Broncos fifth round pick Ryan Torain. Not only are the Broncos known for turning late round picks into fantasy studs, but Torain says he’ll be 100% healthy by training camp after suffering a lisfranc injury last season.
Had Torain not been injured, he likely would have been a first or second round pick.
If you’re looking for fantasy sleeper RBs, Ryan Torain could be your guy.
