Saints Trade For 7, Take Sedrick Ellis…

April 26, 2008

New Oreleans added Sedrick Ellis after trading up from 10 to 7 in the 2008 NFL Draft. The USC DT will definitely help the Saints become a solid defense/special team fantasy option. New defensive line coach Ed Orgeron has to be smiling right now. Many scouts think Sedrick Ellis is as good as Glenn Dorsey. Ellis himself could potentially be a fantasy option as well, in deep leagues.

Patriots Meet With McKelvin & DRC…

April 21, 2008

The Patriots have reportedly met with both Leodis McKelvin (CB, Troy) and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (CB, Tennessee State). New England needs a corner and will likely draft one of these two, or USC DT Sedrick Ellis with the 7th overall pick.

We should also note that Ravens director of scouting Eric DeCosta recently told the media that Rodgers-Cromartie might be the best cover corner in this year’s draft. DeCosta also added that he thinks it’ll take DRC longer to develop, adding that he’s not exactly ready to step on the field and play just yet.

Glenn Dorsey To The Patriots?

April 16, 2008

Here we go - more NFL Draft rumors. Get used to it folks, it’s going to be this way for the next two weeks. Apparently the Patriots are interested in trading up for LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey.

Considering they’d have to move from seven to two in order to make this happen, we don’t think it’s likely. A. - it’s the Patriots and B. - Sedrick Ellis could still be available at seven, and he’s thought by many to be just as good as Dorsey.

Keith Rivers, USC OLB

Rivers secured his spot in the first round with an amazing 42″ vertical leap at his pro day.  USC TE Fred Davis didn’t fare as well and likely hurt his draft stock with poor forty times and change-of-direction skills.

Sedrick Ellis, USC DT

Defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis absolutely blew it up at his pro day, securing a likely top 10 overall selection in the NFL Draft.

There is more and more excitement starting to flow around the Packers organization regarding Aaron Rodgers taking over as the team’s starting QB.  The Packers will apparently utilize his athletic ability quite a bit in 2008, using him on keeps and bootlegs that are normally seen in the West Coast offense.
