Broncos To Get Their Answer At RB
October 29, 2008
So, whatever the heck happened to Selvin Young rushing for 2,000 yards this season? Come on. That pre-season prediction was about as empty as the cupboards in a bachelor pad. The Broncos second year rusher only has only rushed for 266 yards and a TD all season, missing two straight games with a knee injury. However, it appears that Denver is about to finally get their answer at RB. Read more

Experts Draft: There’s Value In Round 5
June 19, 2008
Throughout our entire experts draft, I’ve been stressing the importance behind waiting until round five to take a quarterback. As you’ll see, there are plenty of top signal callers available at this point in our draft. However, QB isn’t the only position where value can be found, as Detroit’s Calvin Johnson, Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe and Green Bay’s Greg Jennings are all top young WRs who flew off the board in round five. Selvin Young’s Stock Is Soaring, Henry Done…
June 5, 2008
In June, there aren’t many factors that can really make a huge difference in a player’s fantasy value, but we keep our Stock Market Report popping anyway. Certain guys are really shining in organized team activities, while others are faltering or experiencing off-the-field issues of concern. Some teams also elect to cut the fat in certain areas, potentially creating solid opportunities for other guys on the squad. Lastly, sometimes contract situations that become resolved this time of year can shed a whole new light on players. Read more
Selvin Young To Be Featured…
June 3, 2008
We’ve already reported how much we like Selvin Young heading into 2008, and how Mike Shanahan believes in him. Now, there are even more reports heading into mini-camps that Shanny wants the second year back out of Texas to be his featured back in 2008, and not just a 10-15 carry guy.
Broncos Release Travis Henry…
June 2, 2008
The obvious news of the day is that the Denver Broncos released 30 year old RB Travis Henry. While this may seem a bit surprising, the truth is (that we’ve been reporting for the last month) Henry wasn’t impressive at all in practice, and wasn’t showing signs of getting any better. Pile on top of that the fact that he had a hammy injury that was limiting him, and Mike Shanahan just wanted him gone.
Fantasy owners may be wondering - does this give Henry a shot at fantasy stardom again in 2008? Well, the answer is yes. He’s still a very talented runner, who could regain 1,000 yard form if he lands in the right situation. However, if he lands in a spot with already established players in front of him, he won’t be very useful.
Positive potential spots include Houston, Detroit and Chicago, while spots that wouldn’t really mean much improvement in value include Tennessee, Cleveland, New England and New Orleans.
While Denver could look to add another back, they also could be set due to the fact that they just signed 33 year old Michael Pittman, and second year man Selvin Young is looking very solid thus far in practice. Rookie Ryan Torain, who is a hard, powerful runner, could get an opportunity as well. While you’ll hear some whispers about guys like Shaun Alexander or Ron Dayne visiting Denver looking for a job, don’t be surprised if Shanny rolls with these guys into training camp, and Young becomes the starter.
Young Head & Shoulders Above Henry…
June 2, 2008
Broncos RB Selvin Young will open up mini-camp and training camp as the team’s starting running back. Travis Henry is nursing a sore hammy, but even without the injury, the second year man from Texas would be head and shoulders above the 30 year old veteran.
Young has put on seven pounds of muscle since last season in his bid to become an every down back. His recent goal of rushing for 2,000 yards has become highly publicized, but we’re starting to become very high on him. If Denver doesn’t sign another RB prior to the start of the regular season, seasonal owners should look to snag him as a later round sleeper. He could pay off huge.
Can Selvin Really Rush For 2,000?
May 30, 2008
Broncos second year RB Selvin Young recently raised eyebrows in the fantasy community by stating that his rushing goal for 2008 is 2,000 yards. We all know that 1,000 would be a solid accomplishment for him, but after recent comments by head coach Mike Shanahan, I found myself wondering - can Selvin do it? The answer may surprise you. Shanny Believes In Selvin Young…
May 28, 2008
Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan told the media today that he’d like to see Selvin Young prove that he can get 2,000 yards in 2008. Now, Young has also backed up his statement, saying he wasn’t just joking around.
Listen, we believe in Young’s ability, and while 2,000 is a little steep, we do believe this kid can be a stud.
Opportunity + Heath = 1,500 for Young in 2008.
Young Says He’ll Rush For 2,000…
May 26, 2008
Broncos second year RB Selvin Young is extremely confident in his ability, as he has stated he thinks he can rush for 2,000 yards in 2008. Wow. Young isn’t even guaranteed a starting role in Denver this year, and this is very far fetched. However, if he does win the featured back spot, he could be a solid breakout candidate. Only Travis Henry, Ryan Torain and Andre Hall currently stand in his way of getting 20-30 reps a game, and the Broncos reportedly are not interested in free agent RB Shaun Alexander.
At this point, even though 2,000 yards won’t happen, we think Young has very solid fantasy sleeper potential in Denver’s offense this year, and a 1,000 yard year is pretty likely.
Travis Henry Injures Hammy…
May 20, 2008
Broncos RB Travis Henry injured his hamstring in practice last Friday, and missed Monday as a result. Mike Shanahan says he’ll be back on the field next week, but we’re hearing he could be out for two full weeks. Either way, this really hurts the 30 year old’s chances of making the team. He’s already slowing down, and now he has to watch from the sidelines as second year man Selvin Young takes the first team reps.
Andre Hall will be Young’s back-up in practice, and rookie Ryan Torain - who still hasn’t practiced due to a foot injury he suffered last season in college - will eventually compete for the third spot.
We reported yesterday that Henry could get cut this off-season, and we stand behind that report.
Travis Henry Could Get Cut…
May 19, 2008
We’re hearing that Broncos RB Travis Henry could be released this off-season. Even though he re-worked his deal to stay with the team and make less money, he was a no-show at Broncos OTAs today. Rookie Ryan Torain and second year man Selvin Young would compete for the starting job without Henry, and have a good chance to beat him out even if he does make the roster.
We still think the Broncos have some interest in Shaun Alexander as well.
