He’s thrown for five TDs in three games thus far this season - in two starts - and he threw for five TDs in three games last season. 49ers 28 year old starter Shaun Hill has looked solid in relief of J.T. O’Sullivan, but what does the future hold for the signal caller?
Our sources tell us that the 49ers are extremely happy with Hill, who has now led them to a 1-1 record as a starter this season, and believe he can be their long-term answer at the position. He shows uncanny poise in the pocket, and has phenomenal accuracy, completing 15 of 20 passes against the Rams in Week 11. Look for Hill to be a solid fantasy option moving forward in Mike Martz’s offense, as he has the Cowboys, Bills, Jets, Dolphins and Rams up next. It’s interesting to note that one of Hill’s favorite targets is TE Vernon Davis, who was recently in coach Mike Singletary’s doghouse. Hill hit Davis for 13 receptions, 118 yards and two TDs in three games last season, and has already connected with him twice - each for a TD - in each of his first two starts this season.
Davis Out Of The Doghouse? - Vernon Davis was sent to the showers in Week 8 by head coach Mike Singletary. Since then, the third year TE has a TD catch in each of his last two games. Our sources believe that much of his recent success has to do with the switch to Shaun Hill as the team’s starter, and while David may never be a reception hog in Mike Martz’s offense, we hear he’ll continue to be a solid red zone target, and be featured more and more.
Brandon Jacobs Could Have Played - Many fantasy owners were left wondering why Brandon Jacobs lit up the Baltimore Ravens for 73 yards and two TDs on 11 carries in the first half of the Giants’ Week 11 game, then didn’t play at all in the second half - even when the G-Men were inside the five yard line on first down three times. Our sources tell us that the 6′4″, 265 lb. Jacobs, who already has more than 800 yards and 11 rushing TDs on the season, could have returned, but had a bit of a sore knee. Since the game was already borderline out of hand, coach Tom Coughlin decided to play Derrick Ward and Ahmad Bradshaw, who combined for 137 rushing yards and 54 receiving yards in Jacobs’ absence. Word is, Jacobs will be fine and start against the Cardinals in Week 12.
