Reggies Knee Injury Could Be Serious... Kim Kardashian wasn’t the only person who had her heart stop in Week 7 when Saints star RB (and her boyfriend) Reggie Bush went down with a knee injury during the Saints loss to the Carolina Panthers. Millions of fantasy owners experienced a similar feeling, as they have lost their star for a significant period of time.

Our sources tell us that Reggie Bush’s knee injury could be more serious than just an injured meniscus. Early word is that the 23 year old superstar will miss three to four weeks due to a knee injury that will need arthroscopic surgery. However, the fact that he’s going to see Dr. James Andrews this week tells us that something else could be in play here. Perhaps an PCL, ACL, or even MCL. Bush could miss up to six weeks, or even the rest of the season. Don’t jump to conclusions or do anything crazy yet, but don’t expect him back in your line-up any time soon.

Tomlin Wants More of Moore - Word from our sources in Pittsburgh is that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will absolutely split time between injured starter Willie Parker (who has been out since Week 3 with a knee injury) and 26 year old Mewelde Moore, who rushed for 120 yards and two TDs on 20 carries, and added five catches including a TD reception in Week 7, following a 17 carry, 99 yard performance in Week 5. Moore adds a versatile dimension to the Steelers offense that Parker doesn’t, which leads our sources to believe Tomlin could carve out a permanent role for him even when Parker returns. The NFL is all about results, and this could mean negative things regarding the dynasty potential of 2008 first round pick Rashard Mendenhall.

Bobby McCray Making An Impact - The 6′6″, 27 year old Bobby McCray, who signed as a free agent from Jacksonville this off-season, racked up a sack in Week 1, but then proceeded to post four straight goose eggs. The former starter is now the third DE for the Saints, but has carved out a larger role for himself since the Saints first round pick Sedrick Ellis went down with an injury two weeks ago. Since then, McCray has seven solo tackes (five in Week 7), one forced fumble and two sacks. Our sources tell us that McCray’s opportunities will continue to grow as Saints defensive line coach Ed Orgeron continues to gain trust in him. As long as Ellis is out, McCray will be someone to watch in IDP leagues, but - our sources tell us - when Ellis returns, expect the numbers from starting DEs Charles Grant and Will Smith to skyrocket.

Tony Romo To Comeback Soon - Our sources tell us that Cowboys QB Tony Romo will return to the field much sooner than expected after suffering a broken pinkie in Week 6 at Arizona. Word is that he could have played in Week 7, and after watching Brad Johnson throw three interceptions and get sacked countless times in a horrible losing effort at St. Louis, the fire is burning inside Romo to return as early as Week 8. Now 4-3 after seven weeks, the Cowboys have must-win games against the red hot Buccaneers in Week 8 and the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants in Week 9. Look for Romo to make an appearance soon, as the Cowboys can’t take much more of Johnson.

Furrey Takes Over Number Two Role - Our sources tell us that with Roy Williams now in Dallas, 31 year old veteran Mike Furrey has taken over the Detroit Lions’ number two WR role, despite the presence of 26 year old Shaun McDonald, who has outperformed him both in 2007 and thus far in 2008. Furrey hauled in six passes for 89 yards at Houston in Week 7, and should be owned in all leagues that require three starters at WR.

Javon Back On Track? - After catching five balls for 75 yards and his first TD of the season against the New York Jets in Week 7, it looks like 30 year old Raiders WR Javon Walker could be back on track. Don’t get too excited, but we’re being told that new Raiders head coach Tom Cable really likes Walker and plans to use him in the featured role that Al Davis envisioned when he signed the troubled veteran to a monster deal this past summer.

Jets’ RBs To Be Fantasy Worthy In Week 8 - Not only did Thomas Jones (24 carries, 159 yards) and Leon Washington (40 total yards, three catches, one rushing TD) have very solid games at Oakland in Week 7, but they face the Chiefs in Week 9. Kansas City allowed 120 yards rushing and three TDs to DeAngelo Williams, and 70 yards rushing to Jonathan Stewart in Week 6, and allowed more than 320 rushing yards and four total TDs to Tennessee’s Chris Johnson and LenDale White in Week 7.
