Terrell Owens To Remain A Cowboy

Terrell Owens To Remain A Cowboy Things are certainly heating up. Earlier this week, we brought you news that Brian Urlacher could be traded this off-season, and today we address recent media reports stating that Terrell Owens could be released by the Cowboys this off-season.

ESPN’s Ed Werder recently reported that he believes Dallas could release Owens this off-season, while other media members, such as Sirius NFL Radio co-hosts Bob Papa and Randy Cross have gone so far as to say that it’s inevitable that Owens will be released this off-season.

However, don’t believe everything you see on TV or hear on satellite radio my friends. Our sources are indicating that there is no truth to the rumors that Owens may not be a Cowboy in 2009. And, contrary to what most people believe, the loud-mouth Owens was not the problem this season in Dallas.

Owner Jerry Jones knows that, and will keep the 35 year old WR around for at least one more season, if not through the entire length of the contract extension he signed last year, which puts him at age 38 and likely into retirement.

The guy is still a freak of nature athletically, and plays like he’s 24. In a “sub-par” statistical season, he hauled in 69 balls for 1,052 yards and 10 TDs, including four TDs in his last six games, and five or more catches in seven of his last nine games.

Yes, Owens made some comments after a Pittsburgh loss in which QB Tony Romo lost the game on a last minute interception on a pass intended for TE Jason Witten. However, our sources believe that the probability of Owens, Romo and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett working out their differences is much higher than someone convincing owner Jerry Jones - who has a man-crush on T.O. - to cut him loose.

Dynasty owners should consider T.O. a top tier WR2 heading into 2009, and unless he crosses “Jerra” in some way, expect him to be wearing the helmet with the star on both sides.
