The News
The Kansas City Chiefs have released embattled running back Larry Johnson, according to the team.

Our View
So it turns out his punishment was indeed more severe than the short suspension that was handed down. Jamaal Charles and Kolby Smith will now officially take over as Kansas City's top two runners. For the moment, neither appear to be a great play, though if you have to own one, Charles would be the guy. Just be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as it is most definitely a fluid one. As for Johnson, with the public relations nightmare his Twitter meltdown created, it's hard to see another team signing him. It would have helped his chances had his yards per carry not been an abysmal 2.7 before he went off the rails. Just ten days away from turning 30, L.J.'s career may very well be at an ignominious end.
