The News
Adam Schefter reported on ESPN NFL Countdown on Sunday morning that rookie linebacker Rey Maualuga has decided to check into the Betty Ford alcohol abuse rehabilitation center for "at least" 30 days this offseason. Maualuga was recently arrested for drunken driving, a charge to which he pled guilty.
Our View
It's encouraging to see that the young linebacker is committed to taking the necessary steps to get his life in order. After notching 63 tackles as a rookie in 2009, he could be in line for a huge sophomore season next year.
