Mark Sanchez has apologized to New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi after getting injured in the Jets' win over the Bills on Thursday night, according to the New York Times. Girardi was recently brought in to teach Sanchez how to slide and avoid big hits, but he did not slide last night and injured his knee.

"I'm sorry to Coach Girardi," were his exact words. "He spent all that time trying to help me. And I know Rex wants me to slide and everybody wants me to slide, but in the heat of the moment I was trying to get the first down. That's just the way I play." Sometimes this stuff simply cannot be made up. Expect an update on his condition today.
