Ricky Schmitt has been placed on injured reserve by the 49ers, according to the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.

Schmitt was taken down by a strained groin. Joe Nedney is also still battling his strained hamstring, so the team signed Shane Andrus to serve as their placekicker in Sunday's game at St. Louis.
