Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia, 6′3″, 228 lbs., 4.8 forty
Pre-NFL Draft Fantasy Profile: According to many scouts, Stafford is the top signal caller in this year’s draft. Although USC’s Mark Sanchez is hot on his heels, and much could change between now and the draft, we have Stafford pegged as the top overall pick, going to the Detroit Lions. In a QB driven league, he’s certain to be a top five pick, however, we’re not sure quite yet if he has what it takes to contribute as a rookie. Much will depend on where he’s draft, but right now we project him as a third or fourth round rookie dynasty pick in non-QB heavy leagues. In terms of skill sets, Stafford has great arm strength, accuracy, escape-ability, and can make all the throws. If he shows the type of maturity that last year’s rookies Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco did, he could be something special.
