Free Agency Frenzy With A Fantasy Slant - Part 3

Free Agency Frenzy With A Fantasy Slant - Part 3As the NFL’s Free Agency/Trading season continues, more and more player’s experience value changes based on their new situations, but sometimes it’s their new teammates who are affected the most.

In the case of LaDainian Tomlinson signing with the Jets, Shonn Greene owners who found themselves doing jumping jacks a week ago, are now wondering how many carries their second year stud will see with LT on board.

As the declining vet put the pen to the paper on a two-year with the Jets, it appears at first glance that his fantasy career could be resurrected after rushing for less than 1,000 yards for the first time in his career in 2009. LT now plays behind one of the league’s best offensive lines, for a team that will continue to pound the rock in 2010 - enough so that two backs are capable of posting huge digits.

Greene just went from a 1,500 yard lock in 2010, to a guy now likely to split goal line duties with a seasoned veteran. Even though LT is over the age of 30, this move his great for his seasonal fantasy prospects. LT’s dynasty owners should be excited that he may actually be able to help them a bit for one more season, even if only as a part time flex option. At least he’s still relevant.

Greene’s dynasty owners should be too upset though. The youngster is still likely to start, see a ton of touches, and probably be better in the long run from having played with one of the best RBs of all time. Oh, and if you’re waiting for me to mention Leon Washington’s name in this article, well, there’s not much to talk about right now, as his value just went down quite a bit.

Another interesting move occurred with Cleveland dealing Brady Quinn to Denver. The Broncos gave up RB Peyton Hillis and two draft picks, and while the move does nothing to Jerome Harrison’s value in Cleveland, it definitely is a sign to Kyle Orton owners that he may not be roster worthy much longer. Despite Josh McDaniels’ recent comments to Orton that he’s still the starter, the Broncos front man reportedly loves Quinn, due to the fact that he was developed at Notre Dame by former co-worker Charlie Weis.

In other words, dynasty owners in QB-heavy leagues, keep an eye on the Quinn situation in Denver - he just became a deep sleeper candidate with this move.
