We Have A New Number One

We Have A New Number OneWell folks, we’ve jocked Vikings RB Adrian Peterson as much as anyone, but when compiling our 2009 customized player rankings, available on our Ultimate Strategist Package, we came to a crazy conclusion. In points per reception leagues, Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte is our new number one overall fantasy player in seasonal, keeper and dynasty formats.

Call us nuts, but the second year man from Tulane gets the rock as often as any other running back in the league, and is one of just a handful of backs who will see more than 25 touches a game in 2009. Not only that, but he is the primary target in the Bears’ passing attack. The 6′2″, 218 lb. beast hauled in 64 passes for 484 yards as a rookie, and Ron Turner will continue to run his offense through Forte.

The catches, however, are the key to the number one ranking. In leagues that do not award points for receptions, Peterson is still our number one guy. 29 year old Chester Taylor is likely to continue vulturing third down reception opportunities from AP, and until that stops, it’ll be tough to rank him above Forte in PPR leagues.

Discuss this on our forums.

Ready for the draft? Now that the combine is over, and pro days are pretty much winding down, we’ve gone back and completely updated our dynasty rookie big boards, both overall, and by position. Check out who our top rookie QBs, RBs, WRs, TEs, DL, LBs and DBs are, and talk about it on our forums.
