Jamaal Charles Still On The Board…

jamaal-charles.jpgNot to “He-Man” ourselves, but how many other fantasy football sites have you found that have mocked this deep? Why do we do it? Have you ever heard of Marques Colston? What about Tom Brady? Okay, you get the point, let round three begin.

64. “The Miami Dolphins Select…” Andre Woodson, QB, Kentucky -Miami currently has John Beck and Josh McCown on the roster, but neither one has a firm grip on the starting job. If Beck plays well in 2008, he could very well be the Dolphins QB of the future, but Bill Parcells needs an insurance policy. The 6′5″ Woodson is extremely talented and was once projected as a first rounder. He slipped to the early third round due to the fact that he wasn’t necessarily a workout warrior, and he peaked a little too early during 2007. He played for a former NFL coach at Kentucky, and he’ll be more ready for the league than most think.

65. “The St. Louis Rams Select…” Eddie Royal, WR, Virginia Tech -The Rams need to select a WR in this draft, and the third round will likely be the time to do it, after they address needs on the offensive and defensive lines in rounds one and two. At this point, the 5′9″ Royal would be a good fit, as he’d give them speed in the slot, and help in the return game. He won’t have the most fantasy potential, but a guy like Adrian Arrington from U-M could also be an option to step in and beat out Drew Bennett.

66. “The Kansas City Chiefs Select…” Anthony Collins, OT, Kansas - Of the many teams in this draft that desperately need offensive linemen, Kansas City is near the top of the list. They haven’t been the same since Willie Roaf hung it up a couple years ago, and new OC Chan Gailey loves to pound the rock. You can bet on an offensive tackle - and likely a guard - being added at some point in this draft.

67. “The Carolina Panthers Select…” Jamaal Charles, RB, Texas -Looking back at our mock draft, we’d be very surprised if Charles actually slipped this far. There’s so much talent at RB this year though that this is a very possible scenario. We had them snatch Ryan Clady in round one and Jason Jones in round two, now it’s time for a back-up RB in round three. Other than starter DeAngelo Williams, the only other back Carolina has on their roster is LaBrandon Toefield, who isn’t even guaranteed a roster spot. They need to draft a back-up RB, and Charles could be the perfect guy.

68. “The Atlanta Falcons Select…” Pat Sims, DT, Auburn -This is a huge draft for the Atlanta Falcons, as they own four of the top forty selections. After taking Long, Flacco, King and Manningham, it’s time to address the defensive line, where they let go of a starter named Rod Coleman this off-season. The Falcons need to take a DT, and Sims is a great value at this spot.
