It’s that time of year again folks. For some people, the playoffs mean a chance to reengage with football reality, after a long fantasy season - while others search for playoff fantasy rankings. We at No-Offseason give our predictions on this weekend’s games, starting with Saturday’s games, with Sunday’s coming tomorrow. No-Offseason’s Brian Wolf takes a look at NFL Playoffs Fantasy strategy.
Indianapolis at San Diego (line: Indy by 1)
San Diego snuck into the playoffs after putting together a nice streak toward the end of the year. That is the team the Colts should be worried about, not the team that started 4 -8. The difference here will come down to veteran Super Bowl caliber leadership on the Colts’ side. Look for the Chargers to force Indy to run the ball, with Joseph Addai banged up and mundane Dominic Rhodes waiting in the wings. Dallas Clark will have a big game, as the Chargers always give up big points to TEs. On the Chargers’ side of the ball, look for LT to show more of what he showed us last week. The Colts have had trouble against the run, and have been reasonable against the pass. Leadership is the key here, and Peyton Manning is the difference.
The Pick: Colts 24 – Chargers 20
Atlanta at Arizona (line: Atlanta by 2 )
I love the Arizona fans, and I constantly reflect on the No-Offseason visit to the “University of Phoenix” aka Cardinal Stadium last November. Great stadium, great fans and great tailgating. But I have to be objective when I say that Arizona is a mediocre team that plays in a less than mediocre division. They at least figured out that Edgerrin James is their best RB (for now), and Tim Hightower is nothing more than a Dancing with the Stars contestant. What I like about Arizona is their ability to score, and score in bunches. Look for Kurt Warner to have a big game, as well as Larry Fitzgerald, and Anquan Boldin. But their luck will run out because Atlanta will be able to run the ball and I see this game going to the team that controls the clock. Watch as Michael Turner has a HUGE game, and Matt Ryan spreads the ball around. It’ll be a close…
The Pick: Falcons 27 – Cardinals 24
