We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About

As always, we made a ton of predictions prior to Week 8 of the NFL season. Some conventional. Some unconventional. Some on our free portion of the site, and some in our Ultimate Strategist Package.
We were right about…
Leon Washington, Jets RB - In our video predictions and our “who we like, who we dislike” piece, we named Leon Washington as a very, very solid deep sleeper flex/RB2 option, due to a very solid match-up against the Kansas City Chiefs, who have made the likes of DeAngelo Williams and LenDale White look like Walter Payton and Emmitt Smith earlier this season. Well, we couldn’t have been more right on the money about our Washington call, as the diminutive Jets rusher carried the ball three times for 67 yards and a TD, and caught three passes for 34 yards and a score.
Lance Moore, Saints, WR - We said we liked Moore as a sleeper WR3 option against a weak San Diego Chargers pass defense, and he ended up lighting up the stat column with six catches for 90 yards and a TD. We consider Moore to be a very solid WR3 in PPR leagues for the rest of the season, as Drew Brees will obviously look his way regardless of who else is on the field.
Santana Moss, Redskins WR - Our “mo” this season has been to take a look at who the Lions are playing, and list their top position players as solid fantasy sleepers. This week, speedy Redskins WR Santana Moss fit the bill perfectly. Moss caught nine passes for 140 yards and a TD against the “Lie-Downs.”
Jason Campbell, Redskins QB - The young Redskins signal caller hadn’t thrown for more than 230 yards in a game since throwing for 320 yards in Week 2, but we predicted a big outing from him this week against the Lions. He completed 23 of 28 passes for 328 yards and a score.
Thomas Jones, Jets RB - Even though he was overshadowed by backfield mate Leon Washington, Thomas Jones carried the rock 14 times for 54 yards and a TD against the Chiefs. We told owners he’d be a great RB2 play in Week 8.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Patriots RB - Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels praised BGE all week, calling the 5′11″ rookie someone who gets downhill quickly. We told owners that he’d make an impact with Sammy Morris and LaMont Jordan out, and even though Kevin Faulk had a much bigger day, Green-Ellis did contribute with nine carries for 16 yards and a TD.
Laveranues Coles, Jets WR - Coles was upgraded to probable on Sunday, and someone that we jocked all week, even though his status was in doubt with a concussion. He ended with seven catches for 64 yards and a TD against the Chiefs, while Jerricho Cotchery had nine catches for 102 yards.
DeMarcus Ware, Cowboys LB - We predicted that D.Ware’s 10 game sack streak would come to an end against the Bucs.
Kevin Walter, Texans WR - Walter was noted by us as a solid sleeper WR3 play in all leagues, and he hauled in five passes for 70 yards and two scores.
Houston Texans Team Defense/Special Teams - This was our sleeper unit of the week, and not only did they hold the Bengals to zero TDs, but they also had two interceptions, two sacks and a punt return TD.
We were wrong about…
Anquan Boldin, Cardinals WR - We told fantasy owners to not count on - and in some cases - to avoid Boldin against the stingy Panthers defense that tamed the high powered Saints last week. Unfortunately, for the owners who actually listened to us - and we hope there weren’t many - the tough son of a gun returned to the Cardinals line-up after sinus reconstruction a few weeks ago, to post nine catches for 63 yards, two TDs and tack on a 30 yard run.
Larry Fitzgerald, Cardinals WR - We also told fantasy owners to forget about Fitz putting up huge digits this week. While he didn’t get into the end zone, he still put up a very solid game, hauling in seven passes for 115 yards.
Marques Colston, Saints WR - Colston only caught two balls for 56 yards, as teammate Lance Moore stole the show in London, hauling in six passes for 90 yards and a score. Moore will continue to be a very solid player for fantasy owners in deep leagues this season, but Colston should rebound after the team’s Week 9 bye and lead the Saints in receiving the rest of the way.
