The Great Eddie Royal Debate

Has Eddie Royal lost fantasy value since Jay Cutler was dealt to Chicago? There’s a huge debate brewing on our forums right now regarding his value. Some fantasy owners believe - as we do - that Royal’s value remains high and his production will remain unaffected by the move, even with Kyle Orton as the starter.
The key word here is value. Overall, the second year speedster from Virginia Tech is less sexy now. Orton doesn’t have the cannon that Cutler does, and while he’s certainly the front runner to start, he’ll have to earn the job over Chris Simms and who ever else Denver may bring in. With that said, Josh McDaniels will certainly run the same system he was planning on running with Cutler at the helm, which is a shotgun friendly spread scheme. They will freaking air it out a ton, and Royal will benefit from playing the Wes Welker possession role in the offense. In other words, while his sexiness or perceived value may have dipped as a result of losing Cutler, his estimated production - which we believe will be 90 or more catches for around 1,200 yards and six or seven TDs - has remained the same.
This has created a sense among astute dynasty owners that there may be an opportunity to buy him low at this point. Our advice? If you can get him for a lower price than before - do it. If you own him - keep him and watch him rack up the fantasy points - especially in PPR leagues.
