Veteran WRs Are Back

Veteran WRs Are Back The lack of performance from veteran WRs like Chad Ocho Cinco, Terrell Owens, Torry Holt, and even Donald Driver and Derrick Mason recently has had fantasy owners scratching their heads. Seasonal owners simply weren’t getting production, while dynasty and keeper owners were wondering if their stars value would continue to decrease.

Luckily, owners won’t have to wonder much longer, as their questions were answered in Week 9. Not only did all five veteran WRs post solid digits, but various factors will help all of them moving forward.

After catching six balls for 58 yards and a score, Holt is once again a focal point of his team’s offense, as running back Steven Jackson is still dealing with health issues, and opponents may have finally figured out how to put the stop on rookie WR Donnie Avery. The 31 year old looked tough in Week 9 and faces the Jets’ 23rd ranked pass defense in Week 10.

Driver reminded everyone that he can still play a huge role in the Packers offense, by hauling in seven passes for 136 yards and a TD in Week 9. The 34 year old will likely have another shot at a big game in Week 10 against the Vikings’ 20th ranked pass defense.

The 34 year old Mason had a huge game in Week 9, catching nine balls for 136 yards and a TD, after catching only one pass in Week 8. The Ravens, who have thrown for four TDs in their last three games, face the Texans, who allowed three passing TDs to Gus Frerotte and the Vikings in Week 9.

While Holt, Driver and Mason are solid starts in Week 10, Chad and T.O. go into a bye at a beautiful time for each. Owens, who reached the end zone for the first time since Week 5, will get Tony Romo back in Week 11, which should boost his digits. Johnson hauled in five passes for 37 yards and two TDs in Week 9, and has caught five or more balls in each of his last four games (four TDs in his last six) and appears to be fully healthy and having fun again. He has developed solid chemistry with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, but there’s a small chance he may get Carson Palmer back soon – which would do wonders for his ceiling the rest of the way.
