We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About

We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About No-Offseason.com continues to do a great job helping owners find fantasy sleepers week-in and week-out, as well as set their line-ups, and not only that, but quite a few of our long-term projections from a few weeks back are starting to pan out…He-Man.

We were right about…

Mark Bradley, Chiefs WR - Folks, believe it or not, there may be a new #1 WR in Kansas City. Former Bears cast-away, Mark Bradley, who is in his fourth season out of Oklahoma, hauled in nine balls for 81 yards and a TD against the Chargers in Week 10. We told owners that Bradley would be a phenomenal sleeper WR in all leagues, and we were right on the money, as he hauled in his second TD pass in three games. The 6′2″, 26 year old has now caught 18 balls for 188 yards and two TDs in his last three games, while also throwing a 37 yard TD pass in Week 9. Dynasty owners - this guy is legit.

Dustin Keller, Jets TE - Speaking of legit guys that dynasty owners should pay attention too, consider Jets rookie TE Dustin Keller officially one of those guys. The 30th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft showed what he’s made of in his coming out party against the Rams in Week 10, and best of all, we predicted it. Keller hauled in six passes for 107 yards and a TD against the Rams, leading the Jets in receiving, by a mile. Look for the 24 year old from Purdue to quickly develop into one of fantasy’s elite TEs. A faster, healthier version of Kellen Winslow.

Michael Jenkins, Falcons WR - The fifth year former first round pick from Ohio State burst back onto the scene last week, hauling in two TDs from Matt Ryan against the Oakland Raiders. Due to Ryan’s efficiency, and a solid match-up at home against the Saints, we told owners that the 6′4″ Jenkins would be a solid WR3 option in deep leagues this week, and possibly beyond. The way we’re evaluating Jenkins moving forward is with the Roddy White method. Meaning, even though he hasn’t lived up to expectations yet, it’s not to late for him to become a breakout star - like White did last season.

Matt Jones, Jaguars WR - The 25 year old Jones, who has greatly surpassed expectations this season, looked like a phenomenal start against the Lions this week, and he produced well, hauling in five balls for 62 yards before leaving with a bruised thigh. The injury isn’t serious and he’ll return next week if the NFL doesn’t start enforcing his three game suspension.

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars RB - We told fantasy owners that Mojo was a must-start today against the Lions, and the 23 year old dynasty stud certainly delivered, garnering more than 90 total yards, and scoring three rushing TDs. Veteran Fred Taylor got into the game and rushed for more than 80 yards on 18 carries, but won’t be a factor moving forward. Mojo should be considered the Jags’ featured back.

Reggie Wayne, Colts WR - Many fantasy owners on our Ultimate Strategist Package forums asked us if they should bench Reggie Wayne, due to a tough match-up against the Steelers. We told them all - absolutely not. Subscribing to the “never sit your studs” theory is too short-sighted in the ever-changing NFL, but Wayne was one to have in your line-ups regardless of the match-up, and we were right, as he hauled in six balls for 114 yards and a TD.

Jerry Porter, Jaguars WR - Although he only got in when the game was in hand, veteran Jerry Porter caught two balls for more than 30 yards and a TD. He’s now fully healthy and perhaps ready to make an impact the rest of the way for the Jags. We told owners he’d be a solid sleeper against the Lions. Keep an eye on Porter, as his value could skyrocket if Matt Jones is ever suspended.

Brandon Jones, Titans WR - We’re especially proud of this call, as the Titans haven’t exactly provided solid fantasy options at WR this season. But we knew they’d have to pass the rock in order to beat the Bears, and that they certainly did. Kerry Collins threw for 289 yards and two TDs, hitting Brandon Jones eight times for 82 yards. The fourth year man from Oklahoma could be a factor in PPR leagues moving forward.

Adrian Peterson, Vikings RB - We endorsed the Vikings second year stud as the top pick in all fantasy leagues this off-season, regardless of scoring format. After a “slow” start, AP has now established himself as a true force to be reckoned with, and someone worthy of that top spot we anointed him to at the beginning of the season. With Peterson having racked up 192 yards and a TD on the ground, and catching three passes for 33 yards in Week 10, he now has 1,015 rushing yards and seven TDs on the season - and we were right about Adrian Peterson.

Mewelde Moore, Steelers RB - With Willie Parker out after suffering a shoulder injury in Week 9, Mewelde Moore was a must start against the Colts. We told owners in our Ultimate Strategist Package forums to start him, and he came through, racking up 105 total yards, six catches and two rushing TDs. Whenever Parker is out, Moore is a must start, especially in PPR formats.

Matt Forte, Bears RB - Despite an extremely tough match-up, we encouraged our USP subscribers to start Matt Forte against the Tennessee Titans. He proved us right, garnering 126 total yards from scrimmage, seven receptions and a receiving TD.

Thomas Jones, Jets RB - We encouraged Jones owners to start him against the Rams in Week 10, and he came through, rushing for 149 yards and three TDs against the Rams. Jones now has eight TDs on the season and five in his last three games. The 30 year old is one of fantasy football’s hottest RBs.

Kellen Winslow, Browns TE - Even though Kellen Winslow had a pretty horrible season leading up to Week 10, we called him a must-start against the Broncos on Thursday night. 10 catches for 111 yards and two TDs later, we were absolutely right about Kellen Winslow.

Chris Gamble, Panthers CB - It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Chris Gamble would be a solid play against the horrible Oakland Raiders, who started Andrew Walter at QB for the “banged up” JaMarcus Russell. Gamble had five solo tackles and an interception.

Antonio Gates, Chargers TE - Gates hauled in eight catches for 66 yards and a TD against the Chiefs in Week 10, and now has a TD in three of his last four contests. Gates is obviously fully healthy now and appears to be a must-start for the rest of the fantasy season.

Miami Dolphins Defense/Special Teams - We told fantasy owners that the Dolphins defense would be a solid sleeper play in Week 10, and after allowing only 19 points to the Seahawks, and garnering three sacks, then ended up being a solid bye-week fill in. Had Ted Ginn’s punt return TD at the beginning of the game not been called back due to a holding penalty, the ‘Phins unit would have come up huge.

We were wrong about…

Greg Jennings, Packers WR - Jennings owners have every reason to be extremely frustrated. The 25 year old stud got off to a crazy good start this season, racking up 34 catches and four TDs in his first six games. Unfortunately, Jennings only has catches TDs in each of his last three games and has not reached the end zone since Week 6. We expected him to have a solid week against the Minnesota Vikings, but he only caught three passes for 37 yards.

Aaron Rodgers, Packers QB - The Packers signal caller was supposed to light it up against the Vikings, but only threw for 142 yards and zero TDs.

Ryan Grant, Packers RB - Grant wasn’t supposed to fare well against the very solid Minnesota Vikings defense, but he garnered 75 yards and a TD, proving us wrong.

Brett Favre, Jets QB - We thought Favre would bounce back from a pitiful outing against the Bills and have a very solid fantasy week against the Rams. He threw for 167 yards and a TD, leading the Jets to a third straight victory.

Torry Holt, Rams WR - After catching six balls for 58 yards and a TD in Week 9 against Arizona, it looked like Holt had finally emerged and would be a solid play against the Jets. However, after catching one ball for five yards on the Rams first drive, he was completely shutout the rest of the way.

Jake Delhomme, Panthers QB - We thought Delhomme would be a shoe-in to light up the Raiders sorry defense, that Matt Ryan tore up last week. While the Panthers were able to get a win, Delhomme only completed seven of 27 passes for 72 yards and one TD. He was picked off four times.
