We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About

We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About As some leagues started their fantasy playoffs in Week 14, and others simply geared up for games that count, there were several players that we identified to help owners with their quest for ultimate bragging rights.

We were right about…

Tashard Choice, Cowboys RB - With Marion Barber and Felix Jones (injured reserve) both out in Week 14, we told fantasy owners that the rookie from Georgia Tech would be a great sleeper play in all leagues in his first career start. Even though he played the Steelers, he was bound to get a ton of work in a near blizzard at Heinz Field. Choice came through, especially for his PPR owners, rushing the rock 23 times for 88 yards and catching five balls for 78 yards. Even if Barber returns from a toe injury in Week 15, Choice could continue to be a flex option.

Matt Ryan, Falcons QB - We ranked the Falcons rookie among our top signal callers this week, and let owners know that he was a phenomenal sleeper play against the Saints. Ryan didn’t let us down, completing 24 of 33 passes for 315 for a TD. He also rushed for 13 yards and a TD. Ryan is the real deal folks, and could be a phenomenal fantasy starter for years to come.

Chester Taylor, Vikings RB - One thing was a near certainty, that Chester Taylor would get into the end zone against the lowly Lions. While Adrian Peterson didn’t, his back-up did, carrying the ball six times for 27 yards and catching two balls for 26 yards.

Peyton Hillis, Broncos RB - We told owners that the 22 year old rookie from Arkansas would be a great RB2 against the Chiefs, and he was very solid, carrying the ball eight times for 58 yards and a TD, while catching a pass for 11 yards all in the first half. Unfortunately, he could have had a bigger game but had to leave early with a hammy injury. Tatum Bell took over and rushed the ball 11 times for more than 50 yards. We’ll give in depth injury updates on Hillis for the rest of the week.

Thomas Jones, Jets RB - The 30 year old veteran continued to roll despite his team losing to the freaking San Francisco 49ers. Jones rushed for 56 yards and a TD on 10 carries, while catching three passes as well. Jones is a must start these days, but who knows how much longer it’ll last. His dynasty owners need to strongly consider selling high right now if they don’t have a chance to win their leagues this season.

Robert Mathis, Colts DE - After scoring the game’s only touchdown in his Week 13 match-up against the Browns, the Colts stud DE racked up six tackles, two and a half sacks and a forced fumble in Week 14. We told IDP owners he was a must-start.

Cliff Avril, Lions DE - We’ve written about Avril quite often lately, as the Lions rookie has filled in for the injured Dewayne White and Jared DeVries. He has a future as an IDP option, and has a sack in each of his last three games.

D’Qwell Jackson, Browns LB - We hit the freaking jackpot on this one, as we told owners Browns inside linebacker D’Qwell Jackson would have a monster game against the Titans solid running attack. He did nothing short of have a monster game, racking up 15 tackles (12 solo) and two interceptions -

Pierre Thomas, Saints RB - With Deuce McAllister’s saga continuing throughout the week, we let fantasy owners know that it may be a great idea to pop Pierre Thomas in their line-ups as a sleeper flex option. The second year Saints RB proved that he’s a huge weapon for their offense moving forward, rushing 16 times for 102 yards, while also catching a seven yard TD pass.

Visanthe Shiancoe, Vikings TE - Against the freaking horrible Lions, Shiancoe was a great sleeper option, but even we didn’t expect five catches for 65 yards and a TD. However, if you threw him in your line-ups based on our advice, you’re welcome.

We were wrong about…

Domenik Hixon, Giants WR - We thought Hixon would step in for Plaxico Burress and continue to post good digits, however, the Eagles absolutely had his number in Week 14, limiting him to only three catches for 30 yards. We still love Hixon’s dynasty potential.

Kevin Boss, Giants TE - Boss was a HUGE disappointment in Week 14, catching only one ball. Fantasy owners shouldn’t worry though, as TE is definitely the most up and down offensive fantasy position. Boss is still a solid start in Week 15 against the Cowboys.

Larry Johnson, Chiefs RB - L.J. had a great match-up against the Denver Broncos, who he absolutely lit up in Week 3. However, the game flow didn’t dicate great things for Johnson, as he only was able to carry the rock 11 times, garnering only 36 yards.

David Garrard, Jaguars QB - Garrard was playing well entering Week 14, and had a great match-up against the Bears, but sometimes what lines up well on paper doesn’t come to fruition, and he only threw for 178 yards and a score, making him a fantasy disappointment this week.
