We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About

We Were Right About, We Were Wrong About Packers RB Ryan Grant is one of the NFL’s hottest RBs, rushing for 411 yards and three TDs in his last four games, including a season high 145 yards in Week 11. We predicted that Grant would be a very solid fantasy starter against the Bears, and should be in all line-ups next week against the Saints.

We were right about…

Ryan Grant, Packers RB - We knew Grant would be a great play against the struggling Chicago Bears defense this week. The 25 year old has averaged 25 carries in his last five games and appears to be the new centerpiece of the Packers’ offense.

Joseph Addai, Colts RB - We told fantasy owners about Joseph Addai’s tough run schedule early on in the season, and told them to have faith. Addai has a pretty friendly schedule the rest of the way, and after racking up 105 yards and a TD on 22 carries, and catching four passes for 48 yards and an additional TD, Addai looks like a must start moving forward.

DeAngelo Williams, Panthers RB - The red hot Williams was clearly a player we loved this week and told fantasy owners to have in their line-ups. He lit up the lowly Lions for 120 yards and two TDs. The third year man from Memphis now has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of his last three games, totaling 328 yards and four TDs. While he looks like a must start moving forward, Williams has much tougher match-ups coming up against the Falcons and Packers.

Larry Johnson, Chiefs RB - We told owners that L.J. would be back in a big way this week against the Saints, and while he didn’t get into the end zone, he was still a decent RB2/flex option for owners in need of RB help. L.J. almost got into the end zone twice, but still rushed for 67 yards on 19 carries and caught a pass for 20 yards. L.J. needs to be on all seasonal rosters with the Bills, Raiders, Broncos and Chargers up next, and has the potential to regain some of his dynasty luster.

Peyton Hillis, Broncos RB - We warned all owners that the rookie fullback could be a very solid starting option this week against the Falcons, as he was the last RB standing until the team signed Tatum Bell early in the week. Hillis showed up huge for owners that took a risk on him, rushing 10 times for 44 yards and two TDs, while also catching three balls for 26 yards. Hillis helped the Broncos to a much needed road win, and while he could lose time to Bell and P.J. Pope (who both looked good also) moving forward, he’s clearly the Broncos’ best RB option and should retain the starting gig.

Michael Jenkins, Falcons WR - We gave fantasy owners a head’s up that Michael Jenkins looked to be the real deal in points per reception leagues. The 26 year old had five catches for 55 yards in Week 11 against Denver, and now has 20 catches in his last five games.

Dwayne Bowe, Chiefs WR - Bowe was a guy we told fantasy owners to definitely have in their line-ups against the Saints, as he is blossoming into one of the best young WRs in fantasy football. The 6′2″, 24 year old had seven catches for 53 yards and two scores, giving him 55 catches for 666 yards and five TDs on the year. He is a must-start moving forward.

Tyler Thigpen, Chiefs QB - The second year man from Coastal Carolina threw for 235 yards and two TDs, rushing three times for 45 yards against the Saints, continuing to be a very solid fantasy option in all formats. Keeper league owners should keep an eye on him, as he’s looking like a legit long term option.

Lance Moore, Saints WR - The 25 year old from Toledo continues to be Drew Brees’ favorite target. He hauled in eight catches for 102 yards and a TD. Moore now has 20 catches for nearly 300 yards and three TDs in his last three games. With Marques Colston only catching three balls for 30 yards in Week 11, it looks like Moore really could be the Saints’ top receiving option moving forward. Sorry Colston owners.

Julius Peppers, Panthers DE - We told owners that Peppers was a must-start against the Lions in Week 11. He racked up five tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble, and now has five sacks in his last two games, and nine on the season.

Thomas Davis, Panthers LB - The fourth year LB, who moved from the strong side to the weak side this season, has been one of fantasy football’s most underrated IDPs. We’ve jocked him all year, but really bumped him up our Week 11 IDP Rankings due to the match-up against Detroit. Davis racked up 10 solo tackles and had a half sack. He’s a very solid IDP option moving forward.

Vernon Davis, 49ers TE - We told owners we thought Davis might be a solid sleeper against the lowly Rams in Week 11. New Niners starter Shaun Hill loves Davis, and found him in the end zone for the second straight week. We were right about Vernon Davis.

Hines Ward, Steelers WR - We had a strong feeling that Hines Ward would absolutely rise to the occasion and light up the Chargers’ weak pass defense this week at Heinz Field. Ward had seven catches for 82 yards at halftime and finished with 11 catches for 124 yards.

We were wrong about…

Kevin Smith, Lions RB - All signs pointed to the Lions’ rookie taking a dip in the stat column this week after injuring his groin in Week 10. Smith, however, continued his hot streak, rushing 24 times for a career high 112 yards against the Panthers’ very tough defense. Smith now has more than 200 yards in his last two games, on 49 total carries.

Brandon Jacobs, Giants RB - Wow. We weren’t really feeling the Giants’ rushing attack against the Ravens - the league’s number one run defense. Jacobs rushed 11 times for 73 yards and two TDs in the first half, but didn’t see the rock in the second, due to the game being out of hand.

Derrick Ward, Giants RB - Ward is a PPR freak, and sees plenty of opportunities in the Giants’ attack. He is a legit flex option moving forward in deep leagues, after gaining 41 yards on 11 carries and catching four balls for 54 yards.

Brett Favre, Jets QB - We didn’t like the veteran on Thursday night against the Patriots, but he lit them up for 258 yards and two TDs on the way to a win.

Jerricho Cotchery, Jets WR - We thought the stingy Pats’ secondary would shut down the hobbled young Cotch. Instead, the solid WR racked up 87 yards and a score on five catches.

Thomas Jones, Jets RB - 30 carries for 104 yards and a TD is way more than we expected the red hot Jones to garner against the solid Pats run defense.
