Prediction Time: AP Says He’ll Rush For 2,000…
May 19, 2008
We love prediction time. From May through August is when most offensive skill position players start having fun and talking a big game regarding their statistical projections for themselves.
Recently, CBS Sportsline reported that Vikings RB Adrian Peterson made the following He-Man-ish comments regarding his goals for a 2,000-yard campaign, an improvement on the 19 catches he had last season and an MVP trophy. “I definitely feel like I can do it,” Peterson said Thursday in the Star-Tribune. “Anything is possible. Especially with how my mindset is. I set my bar high. I expect a lot from myself. I’m surrounded by a great group of guys offensively and defensively on both sides, special teams, so it’s possible for anything to happen.”
Reggie Bush Expects To Be NFL MVP…
May 17, 2008
New Orleans media reports that Saints RB Reggie Bush says he wants to be the best player in the NFL this season. Bush told the New Orleans Times-Picayune - ”I’ve got to come out and have an equal or better year,” Bush said. “I’ve got to get the crowd chanting M-V-P.” Bush added - “I want to go about this year getting to that elite level of athletes.”
He-Man.
Steven Jackson Ready To “Ball Out”
May 17, 2008
When talking with the media the other day, Rams RB Steven Jackson mentioned that he would “ball out” in 2008 in hopes of signing an incredibly lucative deal with St. Louis starting in 2009.
His contract is up at the end of this season, so it’s a big year for the big back. We have him ranked in our top five RBs in all formats.
By the way, his new offensive coordinator Al Saunders is saying great things about him as well…
“From what I have seen on video and in person these last several months — and you hate to go out on a limb before the season starts — I don’t think Steven Jackson has any limits to what he can do if everything is pulled together,” Saunders said. “He has not even begun to reach his potential as a back.”
Clinton Portis “Eats Gunpowder For Breakfast”
May 9, 2008
Joking around after practice the other day, Clinton Portis says he’s much tougher than teammate Laron Landry. He said “he puts gunpowder in his eggs every morning.” Portis also said that he can play defense. He wants the Redskins to give him a package on defense.
These comments came after Portis lost in a forty-yard dash to Landry. He reportedly injured his hip in the race.
Jon Kitna Says He’ll Start In 2008…
May 6, 2008
Okay, we know that after starting the last two seasons in Detroit, veteran QB Jon Kitna should be confident in his ability, but even after new offensive coordinator Jim Colletto has said repeatedly that the door is completely wide open at QB, Kitna insists he’ll be the starter in 2008, saying - “When Dominic Raiola (Detroit’s starting center) is in the game, that’s when I know I’m up.”
We think Drew Stanton has a great chance to beat out Kitna and bring this “He-Man” back down to Earth.
Mayock Is Brilliant On Draft Day…
April 26, 2008
NFL Network’s Mike Mayock was right on the freaking money all day during the first day of the 2008 NFL Draft. In our quest to see who has better draft coverage - ESPN or NFL Network - NFL Network has the strong edge right now, mostly due to Mayock.
He-Man Mike, He-Man.
