Good Luck, Tom Cable

February 9, 2009

Good Luck, Tom CableAccording to CNNSI.com, Raiders head coach Tom Cable made the following comment at his press conference last week, after finally having “interim” removed from his title:

“The Oakland Raiders are back. We’re going to go win football games and we’re going to be a playoff team. You hear me? I’m not afraid to say that.”

Don’t get too cocky there, big guy. You’ve got a long way to go before throwing out “He-Man” statements like that.

While Cable does have a lot of talent to work with, there are still plenty of holes to fill in Oakland, and an owner that many believe is inept.

Michael Irvin Calls Out Rod Woodson

Michael Irvin Calls Out Rod WoodsonWhy would a Hall of Fame wide receiver talk smack about a Hall of Fame corner back? Likely because he lacks class.

HOF Cowboys WR Michael Irvin repeatedly called Steelers HOF CB Rod Woodson soft during radio interviews this past week at the Super Bowl. Woodson was recently named a future inductee to the pro football hall of fame in Canton, Ohio.

Irvin obviously has way too strong an opinion about himself, which may be why this classic “he-man” has lost a couple broadcasting jobs in the last few years.

Haynesworth Just Wants To Get Paid

Haynesworth Just Wants To Get PaidCan you blame Titans DT Albert Haynesworth? He just wants to get as much coin as possible. The league’s most sought-after defensive free agent recently told the media that he wouldn’t want to take a “hometown discount” to stay in Tennessee and that he just wants to get paid.

Two points for honesty for Haynesworth, and a he-man for being good enough to test the free agent waters and set a high price for himself.

Darnell Dockett Not Intimidated By Super Bowl

January 31, 2009

Darnell Dockett Not Intimidated By Super BowlCardinals 27 year old defensive tackle Darnell Dockett, who is a difference maker on defense for Arizona, recently admitted to the media during Super Bowl week that he was “too busy stealing cars” and fighting in high school to be interested in football. He also bragged about being able to steal a Buick Regal, and teach folks how to do it.

A big he-man to Dockett for his car stealing abilities, and for being so good at a sport that he really didn’t care about growing up. Most NFL players dreamed about it as a kid. Nope, not Dockett - he’d rather be a juvenile delinquent.
